Do You Make more Money If You Have a 'Nothing To Lose Attitude'?

Hi,
I am Just wondering how desparate people make money that they never thought they could! Have you ever had an experience of doing something with the attitude of 'I have nothing to lose only to end up earning real $$$ from such efforts?

Maybe. But it is not repeatable. And what many people need is a system that they can use to earn money over and over again.

Having the "nothing to lose" attitude on an emergency basis, which seems to be what you are describing here, is not a recipe for long term success.

I personally feel that having EVERYTHING to lose is a far bigger motivator than having nothing to lose. I currently work full time at home because I was at the END (after going job to job, paycheck to paycheck and living on a ridiculously low income) My attitude was more like "If I don't figure out SOMETHING, I'm going lose everything I've got left. failure is NOT an option" Hope this helps

Yes I think if you try stuff out without over analysis it can bring good rewards. I'm doing something that is getting $1k a month that is so stupidly easy. Like a few seconds work to set up and a few dollars to maintain. Only was possible because I gave the idea a shot.

Those desparate people with a careless attitude sound just like the sorts that the makers of questionable get rich guides profit from. Internet marketing, like other businesses, takes careful planning and management, it's not a lottery.

Actually I don't do any of my projects thinking about money.

I'm more into challenges, research, experimenting, etc. I take each project as a game and money is just a good way to keep score of how well you're playing the game.

If there's no money coming in then you're loosing and the game plan needs to be changed. Maybe stop playing a zone defense and switch to a man-to-man defense.

I personally don’t like this idea. Of course you have a lot to lose in all circumstances. Your time and your courage are very important. I prefer being very careful, but think that even if I’ll lose I will stand up again, and triumph in the end.

I agree. We never have "nothing to lose". Doing anything involves time, energy and/or money and not to mention the opportunity cost of everything else we can't do because we're doing the other thing.

I find things work best for me when I'm in a stable position and can think things through and focus on something and do it properly without the pressure of desperation. I've been desperate and it ain't pretty - I was literally like a drowning man clutching at straws and jumping from one thing to another trying to find something that'll make me the quick bucks I so desperately needed...not a great situation and certainly not one conducive to success. But that's just me - everyone's different. Some pressure and motivation is a good thing for me - desperation is not.

When it appears someone is financially secure and they don't desperately need your business, then it feels more comfortable to do business with them. When people are begging me for work, I often wonder why they aren't already busy.

If your focus is on the business rather than the money, you are half way there already.
If you focus on Money and you don't generate income within short period of time (you generally don't) then, you start looking for the short cuts and your business will never have a chance to succeed.

yes definitely, it's not about putting in money towards an online business and expecting results. Sometimes working and improving your work is all you need but people think they're maybe not targeting the right audience etc but the real deal is in showing people a clean site, easy to read and follow does the trick.

Being yourself and marketing correctly using free methods can do wonders. You can even create free sites/blogs so what's stopping you?

This is something I experienced with Golf actually. When I was attending golf school I learned that when something is on the line and you really have no choice, but to win you find a way. Desperation is a very driving force and when it comes to feeding yourself or others that depend on you, it is just something that takes over.

When I was much younger I sold perfume out of a duffel bag and there were times when I was desperate for a meal. I became so good at it that I could go make a few hundred dollars a night without much issue, but at first, I was completely desperate and that is what drove me to sell my first bottle each night.

An attitude of 'nothing to lose' can work very well if you are otherwise well-prepared in what you are endeavoring to do do.

Very often, when we are burdened with 'must win' thoughts, our body responds with feelings of stress and anxiety. Beyond a certain level, these are counter-productive and impair our performance.

This can often be seen on the golf course, and other sports, where well known players choke when they had a chance to win.

It can also be seen with students who become so stressed about impending exams that they perform well below what they are capable of. On the other hand, a student who is well prepared and adopts a more 'laid back' yet focused (on success, not the possibility of failure) approach on the day of the exam, is simply giving their body permission to shine and perform optimally without sabotaging their performance.

Prepare well and trust yourself - that you have it in you to get the job done!

Desperate people may reach a point where they stop beating themselves about the head and relax 'because they have nothing to lose'. This could well free them from the earlier pressure and allow them to now do better, which they were always capable of doing but had crippled their previous efforts with negative thinking.

I honestly agree with you. Though not always that this attitude should be adopted but It can work in some cases since you are a bit relaxed in what you are doing there is no stress or pressure in you.

The issue with being overly desperate is that sometimes you just dwell on the money, and can't really focus on what is required to get a business up and running. It takes commitment and dedication to build a business of any kind, but when you're constantly worried about where your next meal and paycheck are coming from, it kind of gets hard to focus on what really matters to get your business off the ground.
