My Client Is Aiming For 500 Visitors Per Day To His Site- What Would Your Recommendations Be?

by yourreviewer 20 replies
I have a client who is interested in building a brand new site and has set his goals to 500 visitors per day. I advised him that having visitors is just one part of the equation and that he should focus on conversions.

His reply was he would figure that out later. He wants to create a quality content site and provide good value to his readers. Here are a few problems.

1. He is not passionate about the niche but genuinely wants to provide value to the readers.

2. He is not experienced in SEO (neither am I) and wants to know if he should focus on creating content around long tail keywords or if he should focus on high search volume keywords that are not too competitive to rank.

His budget is $5,000.

I want to help him but since I am not an expert in SEO, I wanted to reach out to you guys.

Mods: I apologize if this should have been posted in the SEO section.

  • I would recommend Facebook ads. They are cheap, targeted and brings quallity traffic.

Best of all, it requires almost no knowledge to use facebook ppc. It's not like adwords

    • Without spending money this can be achieved rather easily. Here is my strategy:
      • 1 Youtube video per day
      • 2 Ezine articles per day (send to other article directories as well but spin them)
      • 5 comments on related niche blogs per day
      • 1 guest post submitted per day
      • 1 Article on Your site per day
Within a few weeks you'll have not just 500 hits per day but 500 targeted, quality, constantly increasing hits per day.

If the site does not have a blog built in then you should create one which links to it.

I presume then your talking about organic traffic. Well it's not so hard to get that kind of traffic to a new site, may take a a few couple weeks, trick is to get near the top of page one on Google. THIS is what I would recommend for that kind of site.

It is a little difficult to make any recomemndations without knowing the niche. Shotgun marketing is very easy, but is not advised.

Would you mind sharing the niche?

Self Improvement/Personal development is the market he is trying to get into.

I can get close to 500 visitors per day posting nothing but drivel on my blog.

So, it shouldn't be difficult at all to reach 500 visitors per day if he puts up one quality post on his blog on a daily basis. Combine that with some blog commenting on active, trafficked and relevant blogs, and you're golden.

And, you don't need to spend $5,000 to do it, unless you need to do so for content creation.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Videos about world of warcraft, I haven't gotten into traffic blogging videos yet.

I suggest you hire me for half the $5000 fee and i take care of it all for you... i'm serious.

But for an answer, he does not have to be passionate about his niche, he just has to know what he wants. Which he does. He jsut needs a manager.

Secodnly, he answered the question himself. If he wants to start with low hanging fruit its long tail, if he wants ot hit it hard, then prepare for the long ass battle of competitive keywords... its simple really.

For a new site with decent budget allocated, do not go for PPC right away first spend quality time in driving organic traffic and analyze results and IF it does not work out for you, look out for PPC or paid stuff.

In case this is for short term need then you may directly start PPC or paid traffic generation, for long term website/blogs it is better to start with organic stuff..

The best of which is ARTICLE MARKETING.

You can't help him much if you are not an expert in SEO, just tell him the truth.

He knows that I am not a SEO expert but he will be using me for getting content written for his website. On my part, I just want to do my best to make sure that he spends his money in the best possible manner.

Long tail keywords is a great idea. Create about 50 to 100 articles around a list of good long tail keywords and use them to build up a ton of backlinks and traffic. This is what I would do, but then again I am a writer and an article marketer so I am a bit bios.

From experience with an art blog I used to manage I found that creating a Face Book fan page worked well, it would bring in about 100 to 200 visits every couple of days. All I used to do was link on the FB fan page to new posts on the Art Blog.

One of the good things I liked about this method was the people clicking thought to the blog posts were actually interested.

    Every little helps

I think much of this equation has to do with the commitment to making the site a worthwhile destination that you want to visit again and tell others. If all you are thinking about is SEO, I would stop right there. It takes passion to make a site that is a destination.

Can't stress the importance of conversions enough... When dealing with our clients, it basically comes down to generating more leads, and thus making them more money. You can get by with 1/5th of the traffic, but if your conversion rate is dynamite then you can still provide a hell of an ROI (this is obviously measured on a case by case basis).

If you are shooting for 500 visitors per day, I would choose 50 long-tail keyword phrases and start pounding out blog posts. Also, ENGAGE your audience on Facebook by provide discounts, special deals, giving free info, etc.

Blogging and actively engaging Facebook Fans should get you to your traffic goal.

Whats his timeframe for reaching this goal? What is the monetization strategy on the site? Those are a couple of questions you should find answers to as they will affect your strategy.
