SERIOUSLY? You'll leave possibly MILLIONS of USD on the table!?!?

One of my jobs is evaluating/recommending packages.

Well, yesterday, they had me on a "DEMO". The "presenter" spoke SO poorly that, if left to my own devices, I would just HANG UP! Although they had info on EXACTLY what I wanted, they IGNORED that! SO, I got ANOTHER "DEMO" today. It was supposed to be JUST for me to cover JUST THIS! They told me they looked at my questions only moments before! They would NOT answer my questions.

Luckily, by seeing the COMPLEX way in which they did things, I figured out that they COULDN'T do it. They came close to telling me it was impossible. Maybe they DID say that, since the presenter spoke SO poorly. It was PAINFUL just to listen. LITERALLY! The funny thing is *I* could do it! I WOULD do it except it could take a week to do that as well as I would like, and maybe a month or two to do all the other stuff they do.

Well, I need only THREE features! They should have been the FIRST features in the product. I would consider it GARBAGE without them. Well, I got to talking with an admin at my customer. She said that I am the SECOND one to review this product. It was offered at $12,000, and REJECTED! The other guy came in. It was offered at $30,000, and REJECTED!

Now I am here! It is offered at $150,000, and I would reject it NOW, but they claim they will review my EXPLICIT explanation, and let me know if they will do it. I would LOVE to tell the client that the product is worthwhile and costs less than $50,000, but that is unlikely. I don't know HOW I could make my request to them any clearer. I would state it here but then they might KNOW I am talking about them, etc...

How come some people keep trying to sell the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER again, and never really seem to improve it? And $10,000 could be approved by almost any manager. $150,000 could be met with a LOT of scrutiny!

And If I approve it, they may get a US partner which could be worth FAR more.

Steve

Sometimes people/companies don't think clearly. They also don't think like a customer. Surveys would help large companies greatly. So would paying someone to come in and do what you are looking at. Seems like a small price to learn what people really want and the company can also add to their offers or do upsells, certainly adding to their bottom line.

My brother is going through something like this right now with a script that was not cheap. Now, even though the script has been sold for a few years, he is having to go through and argue about the bugs - point them out and doing videos to prove it. Ha, he should be paid for the valuable work he is doing.... all he gets is hassles.

Once it is done, he can move forward. But apparently they did not have beta testers or ignored the feedback or heaven forbid they are just in it for the money they can get by selling buggy software and providing help for only one month after purchase. After that, everything costs $ to address anything.

That ends my rant for the month.

Hope you get the job Steve as your type of work is on a grander scale and would certainly be worth it.

If getting unlimited targeted leads (like: you don't know what to do with them all) sounds good, find out more about the leads angle of RepWarn.PW:

        Steve -

They are focused on telling you what THEY want you to know and so focused on their pre-set selling points - they don't listen to what you WANT.

I've listened to demos (not the same as the ones you hear, I'm sure) where answering two questions would have sold me. The speaker starts out as if he will answer the question but veers off into a pre-determined script that NEVER provides the core facts/answer.

        There...I used caps, too

Thanks Jeanie, but I wasn't hired to do the task. I MIGHT end up making it for the future though. And their product not having the 3 features I asked for is like having a car without an engine, or a programming language with no I/O, or a spoken languag with no verbs. I mean it is abandoning the whole concept. INCREDIBLE. THEY even finally admitted that everyone could use them. Frankly, outside of SOX compliance ( Sarbanes ), I don't know WHAT they add to anything!

BTW SOX was BIPARTISAN, and NON political. It concerns business reporting in an attempt to try to get rid of some problems. I mention it here only because most corporations, at least in America, spend a LOT of money and time to comply with it.

    Steve,

Try writing like a normal person would...

    I know you can't, I'm just being a smart-ass here...
