Well, you can check Alexa.com or Statbrain.com, if you so wish. I sure hope others can suggest some better names.

  • I suggest crossing out traffic from the relevant things you use to weigh website value. Why?

It can easily be faked. Yes: Even if you're given a 6-month arrangement
to observe traffic stats while you have the website...

I recommend focusing on earnings from CPC, CPA, affiliate sales and product/service sales. These can be
    observed via a certain arrangement...

These are some of the other aspects I suggest you focus on when weighing website value:

    Industry profitability...
Target audience responsiveness in terms of profitability for the website owner...
    Keyword profitability...

Effectiveness of the monetization methods implemented into the website...
Amount and quality of content for the target audience...
    Age of domain...

Mailing list volume, if any, and subscriber responsiveness...
Google SE rankings and Google PR of the website's homepage and content pages...

Everything above can be observed by the buyer via certain arrangements with the seller...

Historical traffic data is more or less meaningless. It's
easy to fake and it's easy to drive really low quality
traffic to a site to boost the stats.

I'd suggest you consider how easy it would be for you
to drive traffic to the site in the future.

Consider how much traffic will cost you and then
determine the potential income from that traffic.

Only buy a blog/site when you believe the potential
income will exceed the cost of traffic and other
    running costs.

Alexa will give you a good idea. It is not perfect but it will give you a general idea on how much traffic a blog, or website is getting.

    • One tool I find useful every day is the SEOMoz Toolbar:
SEO Toolbar for Firefox | Download the Free mozBar SEO Plugin | SEOmoz
It is an extension for Firefox and Chrome that makes it really easy to get a snapshot of site information: PageRank, site age, Alexa rank, Compete.com uniques, incoming links, etc, etc. Give it a whirl.

Yeah those screenshots are faked a lot anymore which is why most sellers are now going to video. Even that can be faked but it takes a bit more work.

Your best bet is to do some background checking of it.

A great way to view the positions of a blog for keywords is a site called SEMRush - service for competitors research, shows Google organic and AdWords keywords for any site or domain

While its free and will provide you with some decent detailed information youd have to pay to get in depth. All depends on how deep you want to go.

Alexa is easy to cheat with auto traffic etc.

Above all else use your best judgement and put all of these stats together coming up with your own final verdict of if this guy or gal selling the site seems trustworthy.

traffic stats can be so easily faked these days. I personally use alexa before buying sites to check the details first.
