Articles for direct leads?

Hi guys

Been wondering if using articles on ezine, articlebase etc. has any effect for direct leads (through link in resource box) or if they're submitted to create high pagerank backlinks fairly easy. I mean do visitors to these articles actually click through and do they also buy from salesletters or is it purely non-buyers. And is this somehow nichespecific?

Also should every article be submitted to only your private website OR 1 article directory in order to not be punished by google for duplicate content. Or can you publish it to many directories or even to directories AND your own website?

Interested cause I'd like to build content for my blog to rank higher, but would love to use the same content for directories for a more shortterm quicker boost.

    I hope they bring traffic, because they certainly don't give "high pagerank backlinks". They're all on PR-0 pages. (Don't take too much notice of the page rank of the directories' home pages: that isn't where your articles are published. Remember: sites don't "have page-rank". Pages have page-rank).

    It isn't duplicate content: it's syndicated content. There's no "Google penalty" for it: that's a myth put about by (i) people who don't differentiate between duplicate content and syndicated content, and (ii) people selling "spinning software" who want others to imagine that there's a "reason" for using it.

    I have gotten almost all of my clients via my articles on other sites. Some of these people have been my virtual assistant clients for a long time. I have also received increased PageRank from articles and sold other things via my articles on other sites. Surprisingly, I have never gotten a direct client from my articles on my sites!
