Google Places Question

So I was approached with an interesting question last night. I haven't done much with GOogle Places so this may be an obvious answer to someone else, but here it is:

A potential client wants me to rank their car lot for "indianapolis Ford" in Places. The problem is that their address is in Greenwood (a suburb of Indy). Is this a problem or can I overcome it?

Thanks for any ideas.

You would probably be better off getting a domain name like carsforsaleindianapolis.com and doing some small SEO to get them ranking right at the top for the term 'cars for sale in indianapolis', even above all the Google places listings. Believe it or not this is possible.

I just had a really quick search with the Google keyword tool and saw that 'used cars indianapolis' gets 2,900 EXACT match searches per month. The domain name 'usedcarsindianapolis.com' is currently available.

    Get to work.

Places listings rely on the address given in the profile, as recommended you probably have to optimize a dealer web wite to attract out of towners.

Don't know if it still works, but some have used postal box service addresses in the past for local listing to get listings in a new city back when it was easier to link a local listing. Not much value in buyers visiting the address of Franks Ford Indi.
