5 Tips for Newbs which others might also enjoy

1) Do not Buy a WSO or any info product for that matter right off the bat. Why?
Because by buying such a product you are already putting yourself in the red. You can easily start to make money without buying anything. Just read for free in the Warrior Forum and you will find all you need to know in order to take positive action.

2) Start out small and dream big. Don't try to start big at first. Just start small and get a feel for things and then you will become big in the long run.

3) Don't focus on too many things at once. While it is alright to get "multiple streams of income," I would advise trying to focus on one thing at a time. Work on something until you have finished it completely and in your "free time" start another venture.

4) Be patient. People think that they can make a quick profit without doing any work, but making money usually does takes hard work whether it is online or offline. The time between zero earnings and plentiful earnings may differ from person to person yet there is always some level of work involved whether it be mental or physical. Try not to be discouraged if you don't see big earnings right from the start because they will come and you will enjoy them .

5) Don't let it take over your life. While working online can be fun and enjoyable, try not to let it overwhelm you. It can be easy to sit at the computer for hours without even realizing that the time went by yet in reality the time truly went by. You might think you are making lots of money but sometimes you might be sitting at the computer for 12 hours a day. I suggest doing things to improve the overall quality of your life:
-Spend more time with family and friends(at least 1-2 hours per day)
-Eat healthy because you will be more energetic and motivated while you perform better at the same time
- Exercise!!! I love to lift weights myself and it makes you look and feel great.
- Take at least one break day per week
-Take a 5 minute break for every one hour that you work

These 5 tips are just a few that you should consider

This right here is sound advice. Don't ever start something else until you have reached your current goal. You can't reach the next step on the ladder successfully until you have stepped off the lower step.

I totally agree with #1. Right off the bat you don't need to be investing in informational products. There is an overwhelming amount of free information on the Internet that will keep you busy for a couple of years. Once you get in a groove and feel more comfortable, then it would be ok to invest, but if you've researched enough, you'll be able to spot the good from the bad.

I think tip 4 really says it all here. If you want to be putting in an hours work and earning huge amounts of money..........keep dreaming. Whilst it is possible to generate passive incomes from the internet your initial start-up times and the skills you need to build up are large. Finding the warrior forum however will help you hugely.

I can add to the 2nd statement something.

This is very right. Don't start with 100$/month campaign. Better start with 10$/mo or 1/$ mo campaign. You will most probably fail to make your first campaign big, but making small ones is something that you can deffinetly do!

Once you have 3 or 4 10$/mo campaigns running, you`ll have one "40$/mo" campaign running actually! You can see the power?

Just keep working on small projects and it all ads up!

Totally agree. Focus on one thing at a time and see it through. This is harder to do than it sounds because not a day passes without a new info product being released that promises the next big thing for you to do and try...the end result is people jump from one system to another and never really really get anywhere.

This is all good advice. I would add one more caveat which is that before you start anything, write yourself a simple business plan. Decide your long term goal and the strategies and tactics you will use to accomplish it. Then unsubscribe from the list of every guru. They're experts at convincing you that they have something that will help you make hundreds of dollars in just days. If you read all these emails, it's easy to lose focus and go off chasing the next big thing. Just stay focused or as they say on the Fidelity commercials, stay on that green line (grin!).

    r
2 is important. To live the dream, we have to dream the dream.

But it comes down to taking action. The more action you take the more you will earn...there are no coincidences with IM.

Another good one is to stop spending all your time trying to learn, and put into practice what you've already learned.

I totally agree, if you just learn and learn and do nothing but learn, the you don't take any action. Especially when you don't have much time, like me with 2 small children.
I also think number 4 is extremely important: be pacient and persistent, give it time.

A great post to help newbies - I have found that focus and completion of each project is one of the most important strategies to apply. Plan out each day, in writing, the night before then there is no wasted time thinking about it all over again.
Do not look at another shiny object until your present project is finished - from one who knows! Only check emails twice a day - this stops exposure to these shiny and mostly useless objects.
Hope this helps anyone just starting out in this IM world.

Focus really is key. If you are trying to do too much at once you will fail. You must not give up on one thing until you complete it!

I couldn't agree more. Especially when you're first starting out, trying to dabble in too many methods and doing more than one thing at a time is going to distract you, and you'll end up being disorganized and confused. Don't let information overload and distraction keep you from succeeding in IM.

Just focus on one thing at a time until you start seeing results and get the hang of things - once you've reached that stage, then you can move on to something new!

These are some Very good tips and I agree, but I just have a comment about number one. I say Never spend money you Don't Have to begin with, but if you have some to spare the Right WSO or info product can be a BIG help. As you stated in another post, the amount of free info online can be overwhelming(and often times Wrong). So having a GOOD step by step guide or plan of action can help steer you in the right direction. Just make sure you do your research before making the purchase so you buy something that is worth it, not a piece of crap. Just my newbie 2 Cents

I agree 100%, I only started seeing my first sales when I stopped getting distracting from all of the products coming out and focused on one method. I bought A LOT of clickbank products over the last couple of years, and I've gotten more helpful and "outside the box" type of methods from this forum then the stuff I paid $97 for ..

Another thing that was helpful to me was unsubscribing most of the lists I was on, because the only emails I ever got from most of them were product launches

All five points are great advice. Number 1 is so important. It is all too common to read about people who have bought thousands of dollars worth of products and have not succeeded at making any money. Most of the time it seems these people just buy and never implement anything. Yes, there is a ton of good quality free information to get a person started on the right track. I would add that a lot of people need accountability to someone in order to stay on track before the money starts coming in.

Yes! You must not go around buying because you are already in the hole then. You have got to find a way without using a paid WSO because it is possible.

Five important points indeed. Expecially the "be patient" and
"don't let the business overwhelm you" is absolutely crucial at the start.

I am at the very start of building a website and I can see how easy it is to freak out because everything is so new and things are moving so incredibly slowly and you don't know if it is only your site or also other sites etc etc...

In few words if you are not passionate about your online activity, most of the days you will not find a sense in pursuing whatever you are building.

Great Post, Fresh Domains. You are one of several people who came into WF about the same time that I did who has definitely caught my attention. (Class of 2011 anybody --technically 2010 in my case).

Among many other things you said, I agree with the point about taking time to be active ( I enjoy lifting weights as well by the way)--taking breaks, etc. Combined with what another poster on the thread said about how time online can get away with you--it seems that the best thing to do is break your time into a bunch of short sessions with definite action goals.

Jason Fladlien has a great rule about your ratio of action to learning. He says that even new people should shoot for at least a 1:1 ratio and that it should go much higher over time---to as much as 12:1 ! I am still way below even that first ratio. I am not only new to WF but also to online work in general. I did a couple of simple Front Page sites a few years ago in the pre-Wordpress era but have been working desperately to become comfortable in the new landscape for a serious "relaunch".

I wish that I had had the guts to go for a "no-purchases" boot camp period. There IS sufficient free information to start but the newbie is in a bit of a vicious circle where he/she doesn't have enough of a foundation to know WHICH of the free information is the most relevant. Tiffany Dow made a good post about this. If I had to start over again, I would just use one of the free guides about blogging available through WF as my starting point.

It really depends what you want to get into. There is so much to do online it is ridiculous. I personally started with a website/blog about ipad alternatives that just sold on flippa. Now I flip domain names only( not sites) but might do some site flipping later. The key is I am trying to focus on domains only.

              Fresh:

I can see the appeal of concentrating on domains. It's part of the big picture anyhow--so why not ? One could start there---and if and when this foundational aspect of establishing online real estate is "mastered" one could move on to other things. Kind of like building a pyramid, with domaining at the base.

Zach Booker, subuccariel and others have certainly made this case in so many words.

You may have just inspired me to revisit this---it has the appeal of limiting your attention to a manageable set of variables.

              Thanks for the focus

These 5 tips are just a few that you should consider

excellent post! however do not focus on too much things point is still debatable :-)

Yup I agree with those newbie tips. If you want to buy WSOs or other products, limit yourself to ONE per two weeks or something, if not you are wasting your time. I did not buy WSO's until I started making $60+ a day from adsense. I just did stuff I learned from forums/blogs until then.
