Direct Sale or Via Landing Page?

I'm not even sure what a landing page is, but I think this is what I should call it.
I was wodnering what the PRO's & CON's are to writing my own review on a product & selling it directly from my site vs. simply rerouting traffic to the actual product page, where the owner sells it.

What do I consider in my calculations? How professional his pitch is? How good I think I might be able to do? How I might do?
I simply ask this because I am aware of the fact that a certain % of people drop out in the transition, when they are moved from my site to the product page.

Would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

You are losing people between your site and the product page? This is a problem no landing page can fix, and it's important because a landing page or review site can 'pre-sell' a prospect on the product, if it's well written. Then when they get to the product site, they're virtually ready to buy.

Where are you getting your traffic from? This is why I focus on copywriting strategy, because the way you set up your systems can make or break the bank.

But if you write a review, make sure it's even and unbiased, and review other similar products and compare them.

In my opinion, it depends on the product, higher priced products ($20 or over) are better with a landing page, the reason being, you can offer them some freebie or gift in return for them submitting their email, you can then send them follow up emails with more helpful advice that at some point leads them back to your link to buy the product, so you gain there trust as well as buils up more rapport and needs for that product.

As with real life, people don't usually buy higher priced items on the first visit, may take 4,5,6 or more attempt and if you don't have a landing page to capture each customer, they're gone. This way your also building a list and can sell them more related products. You can use an autoresponder (Aweber, get response etc) to do all this on auto.. but make sure you treat your list as you would want to be treat, send them quality advice and help and you'll keep their custom.. Again same as real life.

Cheaper offers can be ok for direct linking though... Hope this helps

The pro's are, it gives you an opportunity to build your own list and carve out your own little piece of real estate. The con's, the vendor's copywriting is probably going to be a lot better. But you can fix it. Either hire someone to write for you or brush up on your own copywriting skills. It may take longer, but it will be worth your while in the long run.

I think a lot of it depends on the niche and product. I'll put it this way though. If I've got something that is ranking highly and gets good traffic, I'm either going to send it to a squeeze page or directly to the vendors page.

When you send the traffic to actual product page and if this page is from different website, then you might loosing the trust of user.

Landing page is good option to act something by users. Most landing pages failed because of direct sales pitch. I suggest, benefit oriented headline, good product image and some testimonials really works for any landing page.
