Best CRM experience with a Wordpress Membership Site

Hey y'all!

I've narrowed down moving my member site to Wordpress and either DAP or Wishlist. Did lots of research etc...

Now, that said, a key thing I want is a great user experience with managing their account.

I mean that within the member site they can update their card and even cancel.

Sort of like what you do on MOST sites you pay for online. Like, if I am logged into aweber or 1shoppingcart or whatever and my card got stolen, I can stick the new one in easily.

I am also not sure whether to use DAP with 1shoppingcart or Authorize yet...

BUT... when using DAP, is it possible to do all this? Do members of my site see an "account" area where they can update their cards, etc?

I spend a lot of money having people do things manually and to be on the phone right now on my current CMS, and want to make sure my customers have a great experience and feel empowered to manage their own accounts.

Any wisdom is appreciated.

Thanks!!

john

    1. Why not ask the author of the script? He could give you the best answer.

    2. DPA for sure is NOT a payment processor... so why do you expect to be able to update/change the credit card info on it?

      Interesting.

I just find it strange that none of these solutions for a paid member site have no way for members to update their payment info within a site... without having to do it all manually. I can do this in most online products I pay for... but whether it it my current CMS service, or any wordpress solution I suppose.... a member can't just update their cards.

I can use 1shoppingcart with DAP or WLM, but with both, if a member wants to update info, they have to call us...or they email us (and then we have to go through this manual process to get them to rejoin with an updated card).

I am just wondering why they don't make it simple for the actual user of these member sites?

Do you realize that is not your installation of WordPress or your installation of DAP that keeps in their record the credit card info of your client?

It is always kept by the payment processor. E.g. if I set up a recurring payment (membership or whatever) via Paypal and the client wants to update, for example, the expiration date... he has to go to Paypal, login there and do it.
I don't have to do anything manually.

I have to admit I don't know how does it work wih other payment processors and/or payment gateways. Maybe it would be a wise thing to ask them - not us...

I am asking you all here since there are experienced people here who run sites. I am looking at the bigger picture here, and not at the individual services.

If these plug ins like DAP or WLM can create accounts using their API and all, I am wondering why they can't plug back into the payment processors to update an account.

Of course I know that the info is kept in the service such as 1SC... but why can't it talk to 1SC when it wants to update a card? It certainly talks to it when it creates the account.

This inability means that every site owner out there has to have people on staff to do something manually that must be technically possible to do automatically.

I am just sort of surprised this does not come up more often. Currently I manage 2000 accounts manually. I guess I can accept that since I use an antiquated system.

But with all these advances, it just seems strange to me that everyone still has to do all this manually.

      Get what I mean?

What Istvan is saying is if you have these questions wouldn't it be better to get answers from the source vice a third party.

Both DAP and WLM have contact info listed on their sites. Use it.

P.S. I don't want to sound harsh but why ask here before you ask there??
