Some Good News At Last!!

Check this email I just got:

I see you have some very accurate information on your site. I would like to discuss with you a possible collaboration. We are the manufacturers of the "certain product in my niche". We would like to discuss with you about how to share this with your readers and also, if you would review the product. Please advise.

I swear to you this is legit, and I even know where it came from.
This came from facebook! Yup, Facebook! I recently started a new username there (pen name of course), and have joined several groups in my niche. I have been promoting my site there since....Last night! There are literally 100's of thousands people in these groups, and these are targeted visitors as well.

This lady caught on and saw something she liked.
I am glad people are receiving something from my site other than just products.

How should I response? My site hardly get's any visitors (around 200-300 a month, most of those are from reffering sites). It is on page 2 for main keyword and I expect it to reach page 1 , however I feel as if I have been invited into the big arena holding a wooden sword...
This is my first offer for a JV, and I'm thrilled about it! Could you please advise me what you be a proper reponse? Just advice, I have a heading, however this is my first time (sounds bad), and I wish to make it a smooth transaction.

Regards,
wc

Be careful. Was this email from a real company? Anyone can create a web page and pretend that it is ‘a company’.

It’s very dangerous to accept a JV partnership. You must trust your JV partner because you’ll have to promote his/her products, while you cannot be sure that he is really promoting your product as he should…

There are many supposed companies that want to find ‘idiots’ who will promote their links on their behalf, for nothing in return.

Everyone can become a Facebook user. This is very simple.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but I advise you to be careful instead of believing that these are ‘good news’.

Try to make sure that the person is legit.
Then just tell the truth flat out about your site. Tell the person that they might not get a lot of visitors but that it will be a starting point. If they do get lots of visitors they will be gladly surprised.

Yes, As mentioned, be very wary. To be honest it sounds like scam to me but if you are interested you would need to do some heavy research to find out if it is legit.

Ask for her website and email address to discuss further.

Red lights should appear is she gives you a @gmail.... email address rather than @productname address.

This should be your first bit or research.

Good luck with it and for your sake I hope it's legit!

You are absolutely right fellas, however this seems legit. They have a website, many products & a company name (email too).
Obviously I am only discussing things with her now, as we are both strangers.
She did seem to come on pretty hard thought, right? It could have been my irresistible good looks.

I received a similar email like this a while ago. It went straight to the trash bin where it belongs.

Listen to the way it starts out...

"I see you have some very accurate information on your site"

That sounds exactly like those spam comments I delete from my blog every single day of the week.

Next you will be telling me you have a long lost relative in Nigeria who needs you to look after some money for them?

I would be very cautious in dealing with this person. Do not sign over anything or send them any form of payment if they request it - it sounds very fishy, especially since you said she came on pretty strong. You can continue to communicate with them, but I'd advise extreme caution if you decide to proceed with this.

I approach FB Fanpage owners all of the time to sell my products, only about 1/3rd of them actually reply. For example, I sell toys, and specifically, I'm the only person that holds the inventory for some of the past Digimon electronic keychains manufactured by Bandai. I approached the owner of the Digimon facebook fan page to see if he could "Like" my eCommerce page that sells the item, or make a comment about it, or something to that effect. People also do this with Amazon affiliate products.

But sometimes its hard to explain why you want them to "Like" something because they simply don't understand that by them sending you the super targeted traffic, you will make sales, and thus pay them a percentage, or give them a flat rate. Some think it just some big huge scam.

      Another email from her -

I understand your motivation and it makes perfect sense. There are actually two ways you can market this product. You can market it directly to salons, wholefoods and spas wholesale and earn 20% of their entire wholesale orders forever. Also, you can put the product on Amazon just like one of our reps did and sell it that way, except you'd have to fulfill the order yourself. "site url" but this way, you get to mark up the product and earn 100% commission. Or you can just wait a couple of weeks and become an affiliate. All you do here is complete the app online and you will get a link to add to your blog. Here they pay 10% on 2 levels for any sales that come as a result of your link. We have built in tracking software and you would be able to log in and see at will what has transpired as a result of yoru link. What the 2 levels mean is that if someone likes it and signs up to be an affiliate through your link, you would receive 10% of all of their sales indefinately, as well.

It's one of those things that as long as you promote your link you will get the sales. Or you can do a combination of all the above. Check it out. "site url" for the wholesale site.

Please advise which route you'd like to take. If you decide upon the wholesale side, there are no distributor fees you simply purchase inventory as you need it.

What does all this mean guys? I don't know how to approach stores and sell them products...And Amazon pays the lamest commissions on the interenet....advice?

Should I ask if they are willing to pay for banner&links per month? I don't know what steps I'm supposed to take now...

Okay, from what I understand you have the option of buying the product directly from them, and marketing it offline and also on the internet. Alternatively, you can market their product as an affiliate online. I very much doubt that they'd be willing to pay for banners/links on your site.

All they're really looking for is someone to market their products for them, either as an affiliate or by reselling them.

I get contacted a lot by people wanting me to represent their product as an affiliate. It is not uncommon for affiliate managers and companies to send out emails.
However, I have not gotten an email that also offers me the opportunity to purchase and then try to resell goods. Though I am sure that is out there. And it is something I would not do. Why hassle paying for inventory and fufilment etc. when I can just make a sale, collect my commissions and be done with it.

So the first thing to do is look at the product and see if it is something you are interested in selling? If so is the commission a good one?

Honestly 10% commission is not that much when there are so many other products offering much higher rates. And also consider the company. Whereas it is common for companies on sites like CJ to offer commissions that low, most of those companies are Brand names that you and I have heard of and are more likely to buy from than an unknown brand.

Another factor to consider is the downline. Though earning 10% off your sign ups sounds sweet, the reality is very few people who sign up through your link will sell anything.

And yet something else to thing about is the distributors you would be competing with as an affiliate. Are they allowed to cut their price? If they offer the goods at the very trusted Amazon for $42 and you are selling as an affiliate for $52 who is going to make the sale?

So when looking at this offer, ask yourself, is it something you would do if they had not sent you the email? Because most likely you can find a better opportunity somewhere else offering higher commissions and potential.

Of course, I wish you great success with this, but as many have stated, tread lightly. I've recently received similar contacts that were not legit. This does sound like a good thing and hopefully it turns into a great success for you.
