Need to get organized, focused, Warriors, what do you do?

I'm bouncing from task to task like a blue arsed fly!

I have a couple of goals I'd like done by the end of the month, but I'm finding it difficult to stay on point, I keep shifting to another task.

How do you guys organize your day? Do you use outlook or some other such software?

Was there anything that was a game changer for you? Book, video, mp3?

Sometimes there's just too many good ideas and advice on here!

Cheers

There is a great little tool that Bryan Zimmerman created which will help you plan out your day and also see how long it is taking you to do certain tasks.

You can get it here (it's free): Stay Focused - Make More Money!

I use Toodledo to store all of my to-dos, but at the start of the day, I write down (yup, good ol' pen and paper) a list of things that I need/want to accomplish, and cross them off as I go. Ideally, I'll even assign a time estimate to each task, and prioritize them.

    Other mind hacks I use:
    • Clear my desk of anything that would remind me of other to-dos. Allowed: phone, coffee mug, headphones.
    • Clear my peripheral vision of anything that would remind me of other to-dos, unless I'm already 'immune' to it, like say a bookcase.
    • Although I love my 2 dozen open windows and 50 open browser tabs, I've come to realize that those are also additional 'psychic weight' taking my focus away from the task at hand. Now I tend to minimize everything, except what I'm currently working on.
    • Oh yeah, if your goals involve lots of tasks, break them down into the smallest possible subtasks, and tackle them one by one. For example, 'fix website' is not a good task. 'Pick a good font' is a better task.

    HTH!

Do not jump from idea to idea. If you have one idea work on it until completion. Then move on to another idea. People often give up because they get overwhelmed by their own ideas

To get motivated I like to either watch a certain movie or tv show, or listen to certain music. I have movies and shows that portray the lifestyle I'd like to have, so I watch them and it gets me psyched up to get to work.

One old-school way of doing things which still works amazingly well is a simple (physical) notepad and a timer. Prioritize your tasks according to importance on your notepad, and set anywhere from about 20 mins to 60 mins on your timer. When you start the timer, focus on the task and let nothing else interrupt you until the designated time is up. Take a 5-10 minute rest, and then resume until you complete the task. Don't set any more than 60 minutes on the timer at one time, as you need to rest for a while to remain effective and focused - it doesn't do you any good to try to focus on one task for too long a time, and lose effectiveness as a result.
