Advice on creating and marketing a book

A very dear friend who is an experienced horsewoman, spent some years as a jockey, trained and worked with horses all her life has the makings of a very interesting autobiography.
I realise that this is a niche product and wondered if Warrioirs have advice on where to turn to create a marketable book and where to market it.
Your advice would be very much appreciated.

If she wants to go the self-publishing route, Dan Poynter is the self-publishing authority.

Check out Para Publishing and see if that helps.

You could always look into publishing it first on Kindle...which will get it on Amazon.com as an ebook.

Amazon also has CreateSpace which will put the book on Amazon as a physical book.

What I personally do is write an ebook and then publish it in createspace. Createspace is an Amazon company and it will publish your ebook on amazon too. From there the potential is endless since all the ebook promotion will be done by amazon. To get the ebook published (the paperback version) after creating it you should request a proof copy. A proof copy costs $3+ shipping and it arrives in about 4 days or so. After going through it and check if everything is in order you should login to your createspace account and approve the copy. After this the ebook will be published on amazon in maximum 10 business days. The createspace account is provided free of charge but for a one-time payment of $39 or so you can get a premium account which means you will get a higher % from the selling price and also the ability to publish your ebook on other e-stores from their database.

        Hope this helps

Publishing on Kindle is really taking off now. But it is not easy formatting your book into a Kindle-friendly version that looks really good. I have made a serious study of that and found a quick and easy way to prepare a professional Kindle book. My research is published in an eGuide at Kindle Publishing Made Easy - A Step-by-Step Guide by Val Waldeck. 4 billion Kindles sold last year means this is an ever-growing market.

Hi Barlow........my niece is an accomplished Equestrian rider and we were just discussing this topic of eBooks. She is a teenager and I suggested that she write a short report or an ebook about riding tips for teens (or anyone for that matter) and provide information about horse grooming, tips on riding, video courses, she has all kinds of product potential at her disposal she wasn't aware of.

While your friend may have an intriguing auto biography you might want to suggest this route as an alternative as well....with spring and summer around the corner there has got to be thousands of people of all ages who are wanting to learn more.

    Cheers,
    Terri
