You Give Me Fiverr...

Hi, Warriors,

Yet again a question about fiverr (this site seems to attract my attention every now and then).

Would someone give me advice how to rank my gigs their high, so that people actually find them and bombard me with orders?

Logically, I checked the categories/keywords relevant to my gigs, and saw which tags the most popular gigs use.

Until now, despite me already having two positive votes on one of my gigs, I can't report any other orders.

Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

OK I have one question... why would you spend all that time, energy & effort to drive traffic to a fiverr gig where you'll only make $4/gig if your prospect doesn't meander off to check out all the other gig options on the site forgetting all about the one you spent all that time, energy & effort to direct them to?

I'd say, if you have to spend all that time, energy & effort to drive traffic to a gig then set it up on your own site and keep the whole $5. Shoot you can even set a higher price point if you like.

Rashell, the key is to offer the right jobs on Flippa. Don't offer something that takes you half an hour or longer to complete on there. Instead, sell guides or provide services that take you no more than 5-10 minutes to complete per gig. Notice how that changes everything now? Instead of barely making minimum wage, you're now making at least $20+ an hour, which isn't bad at all for something part time, especially if you need funds quickly.

              Hey Paul,

Not sure you're understanding what I was thinking (sorry for not being clear)... see, it wouldn't matter if it took .2 seconds to complete. I'm wondering why anyone would spend their marketing efforts in essence promoting the fiverr marketplace.

Let's just say you were able to get traffic to your fiverr gig. What's to stop visitors from doing comparison shopping with other gigs, finding a better offer and going with the other one instead?

You took all that time, energy and effort to drive traffic to a gig on a fiverr page only to lose the job b/c someone posted a gig that was slightly better.

I could understand this IF you were getting commissions for visitors you sent to fiverr. But since you're not, what's the ROI?

I say set up your own site with whatever gigs you like. Add an opt in subscription box (for repeat order opportunities), raise the price to whatever you like and drive traffic to your own site. The work will be just as cumbersome but the ROI is more in your control. (Never mind you won't have to give them a $1 for essentially doing pert near NOTHING.)

Marketplaces like those are great until you start losing your traffic/sales to competitors. Unless the gig produces without you having to do any heavy marketing I think you're better off promoting your own website with only your gigs on your own terms.

Or am I missing some secret fiverr marketing formula?

Of course there is a lot of competition (I read above) but you only need to worry about that if your gig is worth well below $5...

You have to change what you offer.

The major keywords might be so competitive but there are some you can always do to draw targeted clients to your gigs.

Another thing you may consider doing is to try and look beyond your immediate keywords while you look out for jobs.

As long as you can deliver the jobs or outsource them, go for the job and ask for testimonies while submitting the completed order.

This way, your gig will soon start getting more popular.

That's what I was thinking. It's like under-selling at times, which reasons because of the competition.

depending on what your gig is post it on your facebook page and friends pages, you could also make a free video about your gig using animoto and then put it on youtube for more exposure. it takes time for you to build a good rap but once you do it should start to snowball be careful what you wish for LOL

    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3405174].message }}
  • Hi Morgen, Fiverr is a wonderful method. I made over $523, in only 2 months. But the best came in latest 20 days.
Then I was unable to proceed because of too many orders, so for now I stopped working on it. I was going crazy. All day working on it...

After some holidays I will be able to restart.
Probably I will release a 4 page guide soon, so stay tuned.

The best method is sharing and giving some bonuses, and when you have some visits and a few orders, you can ask to them to be added as "Featured" in their home page.
If you want contact me personally via PM and I will share some tips and tricks.

    Thanks,
    Alessandro

Alessandro, it certainly sounds like you're on the right path, however you might want to look into only offering gigs that are less time-consuming on your part - you should preferably offer gigs that take a maximum of 5-10 minutes to fulfill.

Find other gig sites like fiverr such as tenbux and set up gigs in all of these places. The good thing about that is that some of the other gig sites you can charge more than $5 for a gig. There's a site I use that is called makeafiver.co.uk which is £5 GBP Sterling which is a little more than $5 and the set up and layout of the whole site is almost identical to fiverr!
    Check it out

    Hope this helps,

I have found that when I first post the gig, it is near top, but as the days go by the drop me into the dirt as they say. Try to build up your rep. OK and go for niches so you do not get buried under a bunch of other gigs.

Like everything else in life, it is hard to break in. However, things get easier once you have established a good name.

    Things that help you are:
    1) good ratings
    2) good desc
    3) video

The first thing you have to realize is that most of your competition on Fiverr isn't going to be an issue for a couple of reasons.

        1. People are very lazy when it comes to tagging their gigs, and unless they get really popular. This will have a big negative effect on how many people are going to see their gig.
        2. You should always make sure the gig your offering is one that people on fiverr are buying. To many people create gigs for which there is no demand, and are shocked when they don't make any money. Check the highest rated gigs to see which kind of stuff is actually selling.
So how do you promote your gig?

        1. Make sure your using as many tags as possible, and make sure there relevent to your gig. Your not going to get into trouble for using a lot of tags, and it's not going to drive people off.
        2. Create a video explaining your service, and include it in the gig description. Not a lot of people do this, and it can help to draw people to your gig.
        3. After a gig is complete, offer a bonus to your customer to give good feedback and write a positive review. This will go along way to shooting your gig to the top.

I would recommend doing this for about a month, and it should go along way to helping you get more orders.

    An example to the skeptics.

I have a gig where I use SEO Enterprise to generate an SEO report for someone. This takes me about 3mins total, and the program generates a detailed pdf. I have just made $4.

I do this gig 3 or 4 times, I have enough money to buy a domain, and a few more get me hosting. There is a great use for Fiverr for newbies, and people who can think of gigs that can be done quickly.

The Fiverr people like it when you have a video on your gig and that video says their name in the title screen. In addition, ask them to feature you. The worst they can say is "no.' Also, do some standard backlinking to your link with them. These things helped me.

This is why I believe that there is still significant potential to make money at sites like Fiverr - if you actually provide a great service there for $5, you'll stick out like a sore thumb and get lots of orders for your gigs!

Did you still pay for them?

Which "traffic-generating" gigs did you have bad experiences with?

I made a list by myself also with gigs that even if they have good feedback, they are worse than terrible in fact

      5$ paid for 3 clicks... that's pathetic!

Thanks for sharing your blog post, hopefully this will serve as a real eye-opener to newbies who just can't see past that measly $5 they get per gig!

        Cool, no problems.

I made a massive mistake in the process.

The site that was getting me the fiverr gigs and then followed on with SEO services I decided to stop the service and suffered from it in the longer-term ;(

But consistently using fiverr as a platform will to get more work is the way to go.

With the amount of crap that is on there people will definitely keep coming back to yours if you deliver.

Exactly, many people don't realize that your service on Fiverr only needs to be a "loss leader" front end that's designed to get people into your sales funnel, so to speak. Of course, you'd still have to provide exemplary service on it, but this opens the door to other higher-priced services on the back end, like what you did in the past.

If you do all around good work, you'll find that you'll have many of your initial customers coming back to you for your other services, and this is when things get really interesting and profitable!

Try gaining knowledge as much as you can, if you have a gig of making a website for $5,
Offcourse it is less but the knowledge, the skills that you are gaining will be much much costlier.

yeah use the social platforms such as fb, twitter, linked in, you tube etc and use fiverr to get backlinks to other sites. The more backlinks, the more your sites get seen

You can put up a blog showcasing your gigs as well. Make a fan page for it, then link to your blog or gig. Not everybody knows about fiverr. Hang out in a place full of people (forums etc) and have your gig as your signature.

Not sure if this has been said before, but you can always create a new gig that is a carbon copy of your old gig, but the call to action should link back to your old gig. This way, your newest gig will appear at the top of the page. Creating a new gig as a carbon copy of your old one should only take about 20 seconds.

Once people go back to your old gig and buy from that page, you will be able to start gaining some momentum and gaining some positive feedback. You can continue to create carbon copy new gigs that will link back to your old gig until your old gig has enough feedback to be ranked as one of the top "most popular" or "highest rating". Hope that helps!

One of the things that I did to get gigs there is to look for the gigs I wanted to do and send them a message that said: Do you still need this? (copy and pastes what they wrote) They respond and you go set up a gig button.

    Hope that helps.

All of the typical marketing methods should work, you just don't have to put in as much effort as you would promoting some website.

You may want to use their "featured Gig" and also the picture that you used with the gig matter a lot.

Give really good value and make it irresistible for people not to buy is the way to go

so can anyone recommend a traffic gig that actually delivers some value... and more than 100 clicks?

because all the ones with high ratings that I tried, were just waste of time an dmoney... 3 clicks received for 5$, 8 clicks received... and of course NO SALES...
