The www.spark-innovation.com choice is probably better than the other, which you have linked to .org. And here's why: most people's brains default to .com or .net when remembering a website. Aside from that, you'll be forever reminding people about the hyphen. If you're only using the name for hot-links or in ads, that's not an issue.

If the .com isn't available I'd probably go with the .org version.

I also would probably go with spark-innovation.com. My preference is always a .com, 2nd choice is a .net. For most websites I think they work best.

Did you already grab the .org because that looks taken? I would say that the .org would be better for you. Usually a product oriented domain name will be hyphenated but I advise against it in your case because you always have to remind people of the hyphen. Also if you want you can try the .co alternative Learn more about .co here

Iwould agree with Bruce that the .com and hyphen will work better for you, however the .co idea may be worth checking out too as it seems to be gaining momentum.

PS: the .org page looks great...

When it comes to domain names a .COM will always hold precedence over a .NET, .ORG or .BIZ domain. My suggestion would be to purchase the spark-innovation website but also try alternatives:

    sparkinnovations
    sparkaninnovation
    sparkyourinnovation
    wesparkinnovation

Try any of these and if they are taken, brainstorm some of your own. Watch my YouTube video titled You, Inc. on how to choose the right domain name for your business. Hope this has been helpful for you.

I would definitely go with the .org in that situation. You're not trying to get an exact match keyword on google, you're trying to establish brand identity. For that, I think .org will do better than having to deal with a hyphen.

Exactly, if you want branding NO HYPHENS

Ill'd rather go with www.spark-innovation.com. If you are concerning on the hyphenated names then there are still advantages in choosing so.

-Search engines can distinguish your keywords better and thus return your site more prominently in search results for those keywords occurring in your domain name.
-The non-hyphenated form may no longer be available. At least this way, you still get the domain name you want.

Personally, I prefer to avoid hyphenated names if I can, but I guess it really depends on your domain name and your situation.

Oh yes. Use Spark. That is how it is spelled correctly.

Considering you're probably going to do seo for keywords other than spark innovation...I don't think it really matters. I definitely think the "k" as people will naturally spell with "K". It looks like you help organizations? Go with the .org

    .org
Like others said, you are only branding. Thus, hyphens make it harder to remember and can cause confusion.

    Don't use the spar"c" either.

Best if you go for both

    But yeah, .com sounds better

Like someone else said, I'd go for both - you could redirect from one to the one that works best.

Someone posted a similar thread the other day and was given this piece of advice. When looking for domain name advice, don't post the actual name of your domain. Someone less ethical might go snatch up your domain ideas before you have a chance to think twice. Use examples or simply phrase the question differently (hyphens vs. non, etc). Protect yourself

My question is, which one would you choose and why? Which is better?

    Thanks!

I would purchase both as well. spark-innovations.com is not a keyword so doesn't matter about the hyphen. Google sees hyphens as spaces anyway.

Just make sure that spark innovations isn't trademarked to the company that owns the sparkinnovations.com website - and that you won't be providing a similar product or service.

I don't think having the company name in the url is critical. Many companies have their url's reflect the product or service rather than the company name and in this case, I think it's a better way to go.

For example, if Spark Innovation sells a better sparkplug, then use bettersparkplug.com (available btw) or thebestsparkplug.com (also available).

Obviously, the company name will occur on the pages many times, so you don't need keyword juice in the url, so go for something appropriate and memorable. After all, sparkinnovation.com tells me nothing about the business.

Since you already own the hyphenated version, if you choose to go with the approach I'm suggesting, I would simply redirect it to the branded domain.

Also, .org's are traditionally for non-profits.

I like the idea of having your slogan be the website name. It's much better for branding unless your company name says what you do. For example (not using your slogan on purpose) Spark Innovation - The Idea People then your site is ideapeople.com or theideapeople.com. Much better for branding. If you just need a web presence then sparkinnovationonline.com or something. A lot depends on what you intend to do with the website. Not perfect solutions, but hopefully something to think about. If you intend to market yourselves as helping organizations, then you might want to get the .org for your slogan as well and use them both.

P.S. Great logo by the way.

I'd go for the .com in this case, as you're branding yourself and overall, .com domains still engender the most trust for businesses.

I dont mind having .org as a domain extension. So my vote is for Spark Innovation I think domains with hypens suits niche keyword rich domains only.
