Where to get WP Plugins made?

Obviously there are a ton of cool (and not so cool) Wordpress plugins both paid and free. And I've seen dozens of post asking which are the best plugins for Wordpress but I have not seen a post stating 'how' and 'where' to get plugins made for you. Elance, Getacoder, freelancer, etc...?

I, like most WP users, get ideas every now and then on what would be a cool plugin but we don't have the technical skill to get it done. So the idea just fades away.

Bottom line...any ideas on where to get awesome, quality, WP plugins made for you at a fair price?

Thank you!

    Hi infohog,

Create an account at vWorker.com (used to be Rentacoder) and you can search for programmers that can design WordPress plugins.

I haven't used them for this but it's a great idea!

I have an account and searched their workers for "wordpress plugin" and found quite a few. You can see how many jobs a worker has completed and how employers have rated them.

ambisoft looks like a good one.

    Regards,
    Shane

Thanks Shane, I didn't realize Rentacoder had a name change. Thank you.

As has been mentioned already, search on oDesk, Elance, vWorkers, etc. PHP and Wordpress are top categories on those sites and you'll find quit a few programmers there.

Prices will vary, as will the quality. Remember that when you start getting answers from your project post.

Thanks Cyber - although I've not had a wp plugin built, I've had some work done on many of the outsource sites and the ones I never hire are the ones that send a canned, usually irrelevant, response. And you're right - prices vary alot! I've realized though there is a big difference between 'cheap' and 'value'.

      Thanks!

scriptlance and odesk. I've used both. The important thing is that they have good feedback, expierence in your particular field (if I'm hiring for a wordpress plugin and you have never done one, I'll pass. With or without great feedback. I personally can't afford to pay you to "try").

I also make sure the person is easily reachable by more means than PM. Be clear about their availability.

Also if you have pics, similar scripts, etc, be sure to give them to potential programmers. Help them paint a clear picture about what you need.

Also never let them get too far in the project without updating you. This can be a simple update on what they've done so far. It can be a simple demo of what they've done so far. Just be clear about your expectation and make sure they're following through.

BTW, please forgive me for all this info, I'm actually doing a product on this as we speak.

The last thing I'd suggest to you on your journey to software/plug in production always be clear about deadlines and agreement. If you agree on 4 days from start to finish, be sure its no more than 4 days. Now when I say start to finish I mean for the creation. Allow yourself a day or two for testing. If you have some beta testers on hand, all the better.

Best of luck with your plugin and if you need help, I'm a PM away (I got 3 softwares under my belt and its def been a learning expierence)

Ryan is good and so is Stephen OLeary (Pm me for his email - not sure what his user name is here) - he's done a couple of things for a client of mine, and we've been very happy with his work
