the HUGE "disease" in our community...

I have something to share with you guys that has really been concerning me for quite some time...

There is a huge "disease" infecting our community, here's what I mean...

People have the disease of "unrealistic expectations" about how making money works online.

Let me explain...

There are people out there who "discover" psychological triggers that have been proven ever since the first caveman sold his first club to his first customer...

Here are some of the triggers that people fall for because our brains are wired to respond to them:

1. scarcity
2. low price, high perceived value
3. push button simplicity ( the get rich, no work promise ) I mean honestly, who would not want this to be true? I wish it were, but it's not.

...and the list goes on, but here's my point:

STOP BUYING AND START APPLYING

So since we know that our brains are wired to respond to these techniques, even if we know what's going on, we've got to remove the temptation and how we do this is to avoid being exposed to these tactics.

The cure:

1. cancel your e-mail account, create a new one and give your email address only to people who you want to contact you and only subscribe to 3 people's lists.

Think about this, if you could only be emailed by three marketers, who would you want them to be? Get on their lists. This will free you from the "noise" and the temptation to buy trash. If you are only getting emails from people who you know don't sell trash, you'll start applying what you know a lot more.

Doing this will remove the temptation to click that "intriguing headline" which leads you to an "intriguing email" which leads you to an offer page that is full of psychological techniques that your brain cannot resist. All used to sell you another b.s. product.

You won't be tempted by the shining things if you don't look at them...

So this will remove the temptation.

For the love of God, stay away from clickbank, you simply don't need it, they don't screen their products and there is a reason their refund rates are astronomical...

2. Write out your plan to the best of your ability of what you already know about how to make money online. Take your time on this and write out the plan that makes the most sense to you. Then start doing it...

Are there better plans, yes, there always are, but you need to forget about that and just do what you know to the best of your ability.

You will make way more money doing the wrong things than doing nothing or chasing magic bullets and hollow and deceptive push button garbage.

Let's face it, most of you reading this could teach a class in internet marketing. YOU DON'T NEED TO LEARN ANYTHING NEW!

...not until you apply what you already know

...because let's face it, you only know what you've done. The "not-applied"
information swirling around your head is just like all the random data on Google ...it's just data.

REMEMBER this and repeat it to yourself until you can't get it out of your head:

YOU ONLY KNOW WHAT YOU APPLY

YOU ONLY KNOW WHAT YOU APPLY
YOU ONLY KNOW WHAT YOU APPLY

that might be psychiatry's secret to success... define poor choices and behavior as disease and then you don't have to be responsible. CaCHIN!GA

but really... perhaps most of the offers could be state at the bottom... results may vary...

The application can only be done when you had your education. It's ok if your primary intention for buying is to learn, which sadly is not for many who are simply looking for the 'magic button".

The Education, Application and Focus strategy ain't gona be obsolete forever!

It is indeed a rampant belief that when you do business online you can be successful very quickly without much effort. While this has proven true to a lucky few, the norm is for us to work at it before we can expect to be successful in our online business ventures. It is just like running a bricks-and-mortar business - the same business principles apply and it is only the medium which is different. Being in business on the internet does not make success automatic.

Internet marketing cant make you rich overnight when you dont have any solid knowledge about it. Making a website reach the top of search engines is quite tough when you dont know the search engine optimisation rules.

Affiliate marketing with its fair payments through the clickbank option seems quite fair to users but its not so easy to attract buyers. A lot depends on topics like navigation feasibility and design of the site.

    I disagree.

We all learn in our own way. See Kolb's Learning Styles.

Some people need to go through the theory behind a
process before implementing action. Others need to
see case studies to understand the process.

Moreover, everyone sees their online business in their
own way. Some people are employed and looking to
supplement their income. Others are looking to break
free from their current job and some are already self
employed and looking to grow their sales.

The "problem", as I see it, is that there's a huge hole
in many people's online education... a solid foundation
    in business training.

Many people don't understand profit and loss, balance
sheets, cash flow, etc. Lots of people new to Internet
Marketing manage their business like they manage their
pocket money. They spend rather than invest, they
make impulsive purchases rather than invest in products
or services that their fits the need of their business

They don't need to take action... they need to understand
    business planning and especially budgeting.

Furthermore, they need to know the correct action before
being pushed into taking just any action.

You make an interesting point. I'd never thought of it this way before, but I guess you're right, most people are not re-investing when they start earning. I think to add to this, people need to be more customer focused. I don't see many people here talking about customer service. If you're marketing your own product I think that has to be a part of the game plan.....

Aside from simply not taking action or putting forth a half-assed effort, I would what that this is the #1 contributor to business failures in general, let alone internet marketing business failures.

Even though it's the internet, it's still a business and those rules were written a long, long time ago. There's not a whole lot of innovation in accounting.

This is true, this is a business just like any other, and one needs to learn sound business principles and cashflow/budgeting. Just because your transactions occur over the internet does not make you immune to the basic principles of business.

Also, this 'take action' mantra has to be tempered with a bit of common sense. You need to be sure you're taking focused action on a method that actually works. Don't keep banging your head on a wall taking action, sometimes it just may be a sign for you to change direction.

99% of what I've learned has been through trial and error and free wf info. I was amazed when I first heard of article marketing. Before that I thOught Eza was just for hobby writers lol! Now I know and it's virtually a secret in the wider world that you can make money writing promotional articles.

So yes taking action and apply what you learn is a good idea. It's the tortoise instead of the hare approach but you do get to the destination. Tortoises can't see shiny objects apparently.

lol, i never considered the paradox that is people buying ebooks from others teaching them how to sell. if only we stopped learning how to sell to people and just considered what made US BUY THAT EBOOK we might start to understand what customers/prospects want to hear.

    a good point well made.

p.s personally i've never bought an ebook

Very true. The magic search term 'make money online' seems to conjure up images on laying about on beaches while your auto money funnel ninja system makes you a million a month. That's the way it's sold anyway. However, such easy money is only ever made by the people selling that image, not so much by the people chasing it. It's a never ending cycle.

This is the number 1 thing I tell people that are just getting into the game that I was guilty of. Find a few things that you can do and implement them. For example, I use my Amazon review sites for passive income. I dont have do to anything with the 3 or 4 sites that I have and they bring in income everyday. If I need income fast for a new project or to outsource some tasks, Ill flip a site. Currently I am into my own blog and creating a product. I dont do anything else.

So find something that you can do and stick with it. For me it was Amazon stuff. Once you get a good grasp on that, you can try another topic if you are getting bored with something.

Yes, but this is not for the newbie. When outsourcing something, you need to at least have some working knowledge of what you're outsourcing, you cannot just outsource something when you know nothing about it.
