Lowest Cost Domain Name? (.com, no Hosting)

I need a .com and it is for a simple landing page and email. I do not want to pay much for it because of that.
I have looked high and low and I have found some good prices, but it seems the best prices are only for domains with hosting.
I just want the domain. I already have Hostgator hosting... any ideas?

Before you buy from 1&1 just Google 1&1 scam. A lot of unhappy customers with this company. I wouldn't take a domain from them if it were free.

I to use 1and1.com for domain purchases- we have searched high and low and they are by far the cheapest. . .

But the one thing I wanted to add is that their pricing (including the first year special for $4.99) also includes a private registration which makes it an even better deal. . a lot of other companies (godaddy for example) impose an extra charge for private registration.

You have no idea as to what I am doing or how I am doing it. I may be running 100 auto-blogs and I don't want to pay $10 for each .com. That is not being "cheap". That is simply an intelligent move.
Go ahead and waste your money Mr. Trump. You obviously are in "the right biz" and are far more intelligent than someone looking to save money.

enlightenedone, Just forget it. The point is why spending $10.00 when you can
purchase a domain for $4.99 with Privacy included.

Well.. I have bought 150 domains last year from godaddy, with the promo codes it was average $8. Wish I knew about 1and1. Thanks!

Actually I have a few websites (of my own). But more to the point, I am a professional web designer, so I register a LOT of domains. In this thread, I was basically just trying to improve my profit margin on domains and I did just that with the suggestions from everyone here.

I get them for 10.00 at ENOM and that is from my reseller account.
Now I can get them for just 4.99. So now, every time I register a domain, I will make 5 more bucks than I did before!

Or maybe I'm just "cheap"... OK, sorry. I will not beat that horse anymore.

I will have to check them out. SLL Certs are often more expensive than the domains that they are purchased for.

I'm going to have a look at NameCheap as well as the others mentioned.

To open a whole new can of worms, do you usually then host using Hostgator or stick with the place you've registered ?

Basically I'm wanting to get an idea for hosting 10- 15 sites, some WP others non WP.

    Any help/advice appreciated
    Thanks

I would first check out their customer support, uptime and if they provide things like free cPanel (admin "dashboard" interface for your websites), PHP, databases (possibly a limit on the amount).
All I can say is, once I tried hostgator, I have not used another. I have even moved all of my other sites that were hosted elsewhere to HG.

I'd recommend godaddy.com! but 1and1.com is not any less important than godaddy
You can get a .Com for 7.49$ with this coupon " YUP3". Just try Google
    Also, NameCheap is very good.

    • I have quite a few domains with 1and1 and haven't had any problems. (I only use them to buy the domains, and then send the name servers to hostgator so I don't use any 1&1 hosting, mail, etc.)

As others have mentioned, .com domains are $4.99 now, but climb up to $8.99 in subsequent years which I think is still not a bad deal.

Well, actually... you said "I need a .com" and the last time I checked, "a" means "one."

If you need lots of domains, you should ask about lots of domains, because there are undoubtedly registrars which offer significant bulk discounts.

And if you're about to start a web site you don't think is going to make you $12 a year, do yourself a favor and don't. Wait until you have an idea that's going to pay back several times your registration fee in a week or two.

that is important. You can make big savings with bulk registration. A lot of the domain reg companies will offer bulk reg discounts.

I would have suggested 1and1 too for there $5 price but overtime I have seen an ocean of complaints about how working with them is a pain in the rear. I recently bought a domain myself and I used namecheap. It cost me $9.28 (with a coupon) with the privacy free for one year but worth the price as long as its trouble free. To be very honest, I've heard negative about both 1and1 and godaddy but never a word against namecheap.

Registering a domain name with 1&1 is like giving the keys of your spanking new lambo, to your 17 year old pot smoking son for his prom date and hoping he will not mash it up impressing the girls!

    Just dont ever do it!

Pay the extra, use a registrar that has a control panel and technical team you can use, trust and believe in, that excludes 1&1!

Just thought I would let everyone know that while the domains at 1&1 are a great deal, you have to be careful because they bill you for other stuff.
I am now using a eNom reseller account to get all of my domains for $10 with no strings attached.

Scammed by the little companies in australia when I first started.

They up and left and i lost about 3 domains, and all my content. But back then I didnt really even know what hosting and domain names were. lol.

wow 1and1.com is the cheapest I have ever seen.

I have nearly all my domains at namecheap.com (been moving them off godaddy)

I believe they are 8.81 there with discount coupon.

When you have over 50 domains they give you a permanent discount for your account (if you ask), but it seems like they make a different one public each month with the same discount though.

This months coupon is JUNEBURST for $8.81 .com, .net, .org etc

Probably still more than you want to pay...
