Do You Grant Commissions To People Who Buy Through Their Own Link?

As the title says:

Should/Do You Grant Commissions To People Who Buy Through Their Own Link?

With ClickBank you have no choice over the matter, but if you run your own in-house affiliate program or use a service like paydotcom, the choice is out there.

Do you think it's fair to grant commissions to people who buy through their own affiliate links, or is it unethical on the customer's part as they are undercutting your business?

yes i don't mind doing that. If my product is good and fulfill all its promises in the salespage, my affiliates will definitely promote them all out and will result in long lasting sales for me. Maybe in the short term period i may seem to be at loss but overtime i think I will profit massively.

      Thanks for your input Qamar,

I'm referring to customers who sign up through their own link for the sole purpose of receiving a discount, not to promote your product in the future.

For a low-cost digital ebook, I probably wouldn't mind, but for higher priced items, and continuity programs, it's almost unfair that the public pays a certain price, and someone else tries to get an instant rebate.

What about when someone wants to evaluate the product before deciding if they want to promote your product?

Also some people like to see the salesprocess, check out the quality of your offer, and see if you're just to bombard people with upsells.

Also a sale is a sale, so if you don't like it then perhaps you're in the wrong business?

The thing is that anyone who is smart would become an affiliate just to get a rebate. You just hope that most people aren't smart enough.

If they make additional sales, I'll pay it.

If it's the only sale, nope!

Ya exactly if they are making a lot of sales I would have no problem with it.

If they make say, 5 sales and then buy through their own link, again, no problem for me.

But if they are just using it to get a discount, then I don't think so, ha ha.
