Hey guys,

so i like, hired 7 people on oDesk.com. all of them was very excited and eager to start working, but once hired, i haven't heard from them for 3 days! they havent even worked 1 minute. how annoying is that?

did it happen to you as well?

It might not be relevant at the moment, but most of my odesk folks don't work on weekends.

Here's some things that could have happened:
    - They might have "deprioritized" your stuff. Maybe the rate is low or the work is boring
    - They may be a representative for the person actually doing the work.
    - They landed a contract so they're out partying!

Ping them on skype. Threaten to move onto someone else. They'll respond...

I feel your frustration. I hired people on Freelancer.com and the intial communication is great and then they fall off the planet... It is beyond me...

It's a normal part of business. If it's convenient (and abides by Odesk rules) to call, you could always ask their contact number so you can call them when you don't get any update.

this is a common problem when outsourcing so when you find a good one it is worth hanging on to them

This is unfortunately something that can be quite commonplace with outsourcing. You'll sometimes have to go through a lot of unsuitable/lazy workers to find a decent one, and you just have to accept that fact.
