Amazon S3 vs My Host?...help please

Hey guys, someone told me today that I should use Amazon S3 for hosting my videos on my squeeze and sales pages.

What is the reasoning for that? I have a host already...why don't I just upload the videos I'm going to use to my host instead?

Amazon s3 costs additional money..correct? tkx

    Unless you are getting massive traffic your current host will do fine. If you get to the point where your host is getting nervous, then think about using something like Amazon. You might want to look at Screencast.com, they have reasonable video hosting and it is very easy to use.

    Scale my friend.

    Host them yourself until you see your performance slowing down. Then you can upgrade with your current host to some kind of VPS - the cost of which should hopefully be small compared to the revenue you're getting.

    Amazon S3 is for later stages when you're getting MASSIVE traffic as Rich says.
