NZ Earthquakes & Internet Marketing

Hi Warriors,

Here is why I am a TOTAL believer in Internet Marketing:

A couple of days ago, my wife and I were in the heart of the city when the earthquake struck. Somehow, after being thrown around like ragdolls, we walked away from our building alive, while only a hundred metres away, office buildings were falling down with people inside them.

I won't go into the tragedy of this kind of loss of life here, as it is a subject for another forum and would be inappropriate and I could not do it the justice it deserves.

What I can talk about here, though, is the issue of Loss Of Income. When any natural/unnatural disaster strikes, hundreds of businesses just collapse in an instant. Business owners lose hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars... and thousands of people lose their jobs.

My point: My wife and I had MOVED to Christchurch just 16 hours before the quake hit in New Zealand and we lost everything...

BUT...

Thanks to the years I've spent learning from you guys here at the Warrior Forum... the business we spent MONTHS preparing to launch is TOTALLY online... meaning, despite losing all our material possessions in an earthquake, our source of income was untouched!

We are fortunate enough to be able to just get in our car, move somewhere new, and launch our business wherever we choose to settle.

I encourage everyone of you to get your business to the point where your income is generated totally online... and I want to thank everyone on here (especially Allen Says who created this monster), for everything I have learned about making money on the net.

So...

Thanks everyone!

Ben

    Hi Ben,

I'm sorry to hear about what happened on Christchurch. I'm glad you're doing ok despite the situation, and that your knowledge and "assets" in Internet marketing are all fine. That's the beauty of having an internet business...

You may lose every physical assets, but your digital and intangible assets (like your lists, websites, skills, knowledge and mindset) remain untouched.

    Wishing you all the best!

I'm happy and sad for you both. I'm glad you've survived the tragedy and will be finally stable despite it. Sad that you had to experience it nonetheless.

Its quite the tragedy and I am glad to hear you and your wife are OK.

Reading this made me pause and want very much to be able to have a sustainable income online too, so that if something like that happened near me I could actually be fully available to help those that needed a hand and NOT have to worry about making money or 'going to work'. Income would be coming in while I could focus on other things.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ben,

I have friends in Christchurch, and I doubt they are as lucky as you. I guess automated businesses are the ultimate place to go with any marketing endeavour as none of us know what will be round the corner...

    Hi Ben,

Totally agree with you. We moved to Christchurch about a month before the original quake in September. After 6 months of aftershocks it seemed things were finally setting down and we were just starting to get into the social side of settling into a new city.

I do wish I had been in your position, I've been working my normal day job to support the family, but it's been week to week finances for us for a while and I've been working hard to get a couple of online projects going just so we could weather the unexpected. Of course by unexpected I was thinking an unexpected car bill or doctors payment. Instead those projects are now sitting on a lost laptop in a condemned building in a smashed city.

But I'm still lucky. My job is in IT and can be done remotely, once I get the technology sorted out of course. My heart goes out to those businesses in the CBD that are just smashed. Particularly those in Cashel street which have just reopened literally days ago after being fenced off since the boxing day aftershock.

Ultimately, Christchurch will rebuild and come back stronger than ever. But along with buildings and possessions, a lot of people lost their livelihood on Tuesday and your post is another reminder of just how great an opportunity an online business is.
