Have the Money - Want to buy

I want to get into IM. I started with a few websites to understand the business, and they are doing OK. Now I want to do this full-time.

I want to buy a site with $1k to $5k in monthly profit. I went to flippa.com, and most of the sites look bad.

How does someone learn how to buy a website? Is flippa.com the only game in town? Are there courses on how not to get burned?

Thanks,

Go to digital point forum and post your thread in buy sell section.

you will surly get many offers but be alert with scammers.

How do I avoid the scammers? What is a good site?

I would start by avoiding DP. Other than that you could go here - Complete Web Sites For Sale! and look at what is available, or even place your own advert.

I also suggest narrowing your search to members websites where they have lots of posts under their belt. This means they are building a reputation and conning you would leave that reputation vulnerable.

        Cheers,

You can buy websites on here. People sell them in the 'complete websites for sale' forum. I'm sure they will help you out. You have the added confidence that people won't want to ruin their reputation on here by ripping off their customers.

If you're looking for a site with $1 - $5K monthly profit, neither this forum or Digital Point will help.

Generally I find the sites on Warrior Forum to be very low end although there's little chance of being scammed and Digital Point is good when you can find the occasional solid buy, but there is a lot of ...not so solid buys, and the scam rate is exceptionally high.

Flippa is probably your best bet, but it's a case of knowing what to look for in order to not get scammed.

Some tricks to look out for are here Website Buying and Selling Scams | Find Websites for Sale with FlipFilter but generally you need to find something you like and conduct due diligence. This would include

    1) Verifying the claimed figures through whatever means. (Never trust server stats or image proofs. Always look for verified Google Analytics, and ask for access, or a video walkthrough at least to verify revenue.

    2) Try to avoid sites that have less than 6 months history - it's harder to fake things (like getting friends to make purchases) over a long period of time

    3) Avoid sites that rely heavily on one form of traffic (e.g. Organic Google)

    4) One most people miss, but make sure there are no restrictions on the domain (e.g. .au or .ca)

    5) Check the whois record email (if .com) matches up to the person you are speaking with. Send an email to that address and ask them to reply back. If there's a number, call it.

    6) Pay with Escrow not with Paypal.

    7) Do a google forum search for the domain and see what people have said, and possibly identify the owner of the site.

    8) Take a look at the backlink profile to look for any 'dangerous links' - links that look unnatural which could disappear once the site is yours.

I have about 43 points I look for and these are just some general ones of the top of my head. Most will depend on the type of site (for example, if it's ecommerce do the maths to see if the number of visitors, revenue, average transaction value and conversion rate all add up).

    Hope this helps.

Instead of spending 5 figures to buy a website that you are not sure of.
Why don't you buy a internet marketing course that will show you, how to get your own website (which you control), send traffic to your squeeze page, promote affiliate offers while you are building your list.

Get that business to 5k a month then you sell it.
