intereseting thought... does this stop you from making money online?

this morning i started thinking about the correlation between my income and my attitude about making money online and was wondering if anyone else has thought about...
  • how your mood effects your work
  • how your environment (where you work) affects your profitability
  • also how you feel when you sit down and "try" to make money
would really like to know what you guys feel when you sit down at the computer to "work" and be profitable...

Every time I sit down at my computer I think, "Today's THE Day!"

    Sometimes I'm right...

Yep, your mind plays a huge part. When I say mind, I'm referring to attitude, outlook and clarity.

You can't get far in business if you have a negative mindset, or a confused outlook, or an unclear picture of what you're trying to achieve.

It goes much deeper than that really. But ultimately, your mental state is the real secret between success and failure.

It's why some people don't do the most simplest of things to make money, despite being told over and over.

It's why some people charge far less than they're worth.

It's why some people sabotage their own progress because of unhelpful presuppositions about a certain method or way to do things.

Fear, doubt, tiredness, distraction... it's all a mind game.

Even the most skilled, smartest person in the world can end up broke when they haven't got their mental game in check.

P.S - When you say "sit down to try and make money" that seems odd to me. It's almost like you're sitting down to do a jigsaw or take a crap. Like it's a one off event.

For most, it's a perpetual, continual process. I just can't imagine "sitting down to make money today" in any sense?!

Hi Marcus. Before i respond to your questions, I would just like to mention that when i first started looking into IM several years ago, you were the first marketer's list that i ever signed up for. Videos were very professional. Your e-mail marketing campaign is definitely something to emulate.
    Now to answer your questions.

    - I notice that if I am in a very unpleasant mood, it shows in my content writing and also replying on posts on here. I now take a few hours off until i feel a little more positive.
-Sometimes i sit in front of the TV with my laptop and try to get some work done. That doesn't ever seem to work out. I lose focus. So I generally will go lock myself away so I can focus.[until the wife and kids find me :} ]
    - I really love everything about IM, researching keywords and niches, building professional looking sites, checking stats. One thing though that doesn't get me all warm and toasty inside is writing articles.

Overall though I would much rather sit at a computer all day in the comfort of my own home than work 40+ hours a week digging a ditch.

    best of luck,
    Justin

    • I noticed most don't make money and my take is most of the problem is mindset and I think being positive when things are bad is not easy but it's needed.

So a negative mindset will stop you from making money (not saying that positive will make money but it's the first step)

i notice that when i have a sense of desperation i do more active work. When i feel like time is ticking away and i am still very far from my goals, it triggers me to do more. On the flip side, if i am relaxed and feel i have all the time in the world, i find myself on facebook or twitter, not creating back-links but socialising.

My mindset and motivation affects how much work I get done that day and how many ideas I come up with, which in turn, affects how much money I make (but not day of).

The reverse is much more instant. If I make a lot of money that day, I will be more productive that day.

Mindset plays a part, but that cannot compensate for knowledge and execution. I am highly enthusiastic about psychology. However, doesn't mean I'm any kind of psychologist.

Mindset definitely. Still tho, mindset would make you money.
Hard work + knowledge + execution (Damien) will work better together than mindset alone.

If you are writing in your bad mood, your writing will be ugly, thus turning away readers and potential customers.

oh, I believe mindset absolutely has everything to do with business (even as an employee). If your environment is not conducive to productivity, that will affect you as well. Getting you home office together, cleaning up/out and creating a perfect environment, along with having a business-oriented mindset is most helpful.

Then, when you sit down to work your business, you've created the atmosphere for a great day "at work"

    Good luck!

Hey, I am always in a good mood!
I like to work when everyone's already sleeping in the house. That's the most quiet environment for me and I cant' be distracted. Very important. If I can't complete what I am doing first time, I never get it done the way I want...
When I sit in front of my computer, first thing I do is planning what I am going to do and stick to it! I don't think about anything else!
