How to promote small e-commerce site

Hi all,

I've started a small web site using Magento. It's all set up but where can I draw traffic?

Should I use adwords? Thanks.

    Have you thought of banner ads on authority websites in your niche?
    Facebook PPC are also a good way to go as you can really target your audience.

    For a new site and I am assuming it is ecommerce site using magento you should do the following for traffic:

    1. Index your site - sign up for google webmaster tools and analytics
    2. submit your sitemap to google, bing
    3. run an adwords campaign and test which keywords convert
    4. build out backlinks and content for your profitable keywords you found in your adwords campaign

    This will help bring you traffic and good fundamentals to start with

    The search engines provide the best source of targeted traffic
    First you need to optimise your content
    You may be able to find a plugin which helps you submit a sitemap to the major search engines
    Social media marketing can be a great source of traffic which you can convert to subscribers and work on building your list of subscribers.
    Creating a facebook page and twitter account can help alot

    Do you sell actual products or are you an affiliate? If you sell actual products get your product feed submitted to Google Shopping as fast as you possibly can. It will drive huge amounts of traffic for you.

    I wouldn't do any PPC advertising, especially if you are unfamiliar with it. I would run banner ads on authority sites where you believe the audience will be interested in your products.

      Search engine optimization plays a big role in promoting your site. However, if you are not that familiar about it, there are many companies or even freelancers that can do the work for you.

        Try Adwords, Facebook, start a fan page, blog about it, youtube, twitter, comment on other blogs related to your site or product etc.
