Managing lists in AWeber?

Hi all,

Ok, I'm in the middle of gearing up for some MAJOR list-building and have a question about managing lists in AWeber. I want to set this up right in the beginning so that it doesn't get out of control later.

1. My main list's opt-in form is on my home page. I can tweak the follow up messages (autoresponders) depending on what freebie I'm offering.

2. The second list is for a contest I created. Because I'm running the contest at the same time as my "normal" list-building efforts (with the main freebie offer), and I intend to run ongoing different contests/giveaways, I decided to create a separate list.

3. I want to do ongoing live calls for promotional purposes and am creating a THIRD list.

Now, I can have different calls at different times and then segment the list and specify which message goes to which segment and when. Ditto for #1 and #2 above.

I don't want to create an unmanageable number of lists and I want to avoid sending out duplicate messages as much as possible.

But since each of these will be ongoing, I don't really see how I can combine these lists.

How do you manage your lists? How do I manage this so it doesn't get out of control in the future and I don't end up sending multiple messages to the same people? I know duplication happens occasionally, but I want to avoid it as much as possible.

Thanks,
Michelle

Simple. When you go to send a broadcast message you simply check the box that says remove duplicates. That way if someone is on more than one list they will only get that broadcast message once.

      Will,

Thanks. However, I already knew that. It's not JUST about duplicates.

It's about not sending messages to the wrong people -- like messages about a contest (to people who signed up through a contest) to those who signed up for a freebie (no contest involved).

The "remove duplicates" feature and the ability to segment the lists DOES help quite a bit. But if my autoresponder in my main list talks about a contest (and someone signed up for a freebie on another page), it's going to be very confusing.

So I've separated everything into three lists (so far). Actually, it's 6 lists since I have two sites aimed at different niches.

That's manageable. I'm just trying to think ahead and not create a huge mess later -- now.
