Do You Ever Feel Success Has Passed You By?

Most people who become successful do so in their 20's and 30's. But what about people who for half their lives just pissed it all away until they reached their 40's and all of a sudden decided they want to be a millionaire or accomplish some kind of dream?

Are the odds against them the older they get? What do you think? I mean sure, people can get lucky, but what about online marketing? Do you think age has anything to do with them becoming super successful?

I think some people think success has passed them by and that maybe they can make a few bucks or possibly do part of their dream, but because of their age, they think that they can't reach their full potential. What do you think?

Are you talking to me? I am not exactly young but I still hope it will work. Things are shaping up, albeit slowly.

Colonel Sanders did pretty well in old age... I think he started KFC in his 60's.

I'm 48 and I believe in what I am doing on the web. Bear in mind, running my own business is not new to me. I've been running my own law practice for the past 16 years, and the web marketing thing is just an after hours hobby -- but I would like to get to the point where I practice law because I want to, not because I have to to make a living.

A friend of mine who went into solo law practice a few years before I did said, "When you go solo, you are broke for a long time." He was right. In terms of the web business, I had the same expectation. It took me a year to get my first paycheck from Google, and it has taken me another year of tinkering and experimentation to get my site even close to page 1 on Google.

I may not be qualified to answer this question since I am in my 20s but I will give it a try...

I think no matter what age a person is, he or she has had previous opportunities that they have failed to capitalize on. That isn't to say that other opportunities will not present themselves in the future.

Call me crazy, but I think attitude, hard work, and persistence has a lot to do with success at any age. I don't know who first said it, but I have heard this quote 1,000 times and it always rings true: "the harder I work, the luckier I get."

Success has only passed you by if you think that it has.

It is impossible to assign just one mentality to any specific age group.

There are people in their 20's who simply do not have the mentality to be a success on their own. There are also people in their 20's who are wildly successful beyond many people's dreams. The same is true for every age bracket.

I don't think age is a huge factor at all. I think there are several traits more important than age, including persistence, confidence, creativeness, the ability to communicate, and the ability to be logical or rational.

No. But I often think that I have let a lot of opportunities pass by. Im young at my age right now but I dont believe that age has some complexities in letting people achieve their dreams. It is all about how you do it, and how persevere you are in reaching what you want in your life.

If you think you're too old, and that life has passed you by and that you need to be in your 20's or 30's to succeed, then that will = your reality.

Does setting goals, having a plan of action, being focused, diligent and resilient only produce success if you are in your 20's or 30's??? Of course not. Yes, being 20 w/o all the responsibilities we have at age 40 would probably make it a little easier, but why focus on that?

I think it's best to work from where you're at and not focus on what your didn't achieve in your 20's or 30's.

Also, there are many stories of people who hit their stride in their 40's or later...

    - NBA Champion coach Chuch Daly said, "Nothing good happened in my life until after age 50." He didn't get an NBA head coaching job until he was 51 yrs old. In his 60's he coached the U.S. Men's Olympic basketball team to a gold medal.

-Billionaire Tom Monaghan was 40 before he saw any financial success. He struggled massively for years trying to build Dominos Pizza.

-Mary Kay Ash started Mary Kay cosmetics in her mid 40's.

..and on and on. There are many examples.

Age can only hold us back if we allow it.

I certainly dont think age pre-empts success. If that were the case, I wouldnt have much hope! In fact,as you grow older, you gain more knowledge and experience, which you can share with the world. In the professional world, people tend to look up the the older and more experienced person and view them with more credibility.I dont see why that should not apply in the internet marketing world. What do you think?
