The strange powers of the placebo effect. [VIDEO]

What I find interesting is that people are inclined to believe that more expensive solutions (or solutions that are in a shiny package) are better for them than cheaper ones.

Yes. What I have told myself and others is that if you think a product is more valuable and then you buy it, you will be more likely to use it because you feel that it is worth more. Some people don't use free methods that are better than the expensive methods.

This is absolutely true. I have some friends who equate higher price with quality, and they never bother with inquiring about other details.

So when they have to choose between different products, they already jump to the conclusion that the most expensive one has the best quality. I had to do a little explaining to them that's not always the case.

There's a difference between the Placebo Effect and
believing that more expensive solutions are better
    than cheaper ones...

The Placebo and Nocebo Effects are proven to work
automatically in many cases via medical research again
    and again.

So, people's belief in the power of the pill or their faith
in a doctor with a white coat, affects the healing power
    of the inert pill.

However, in the case of more expensive and shiny silver
bullets in Internet Marketing, just believing that they're
better does not automatically produce a better end result
    for the buyer.

And yes, people do generally assume that more expensive
    products are better.

    But...

Believing that the latest $2k launch product will produce
a better result, doesn't make that result automatically
happen - unlike the Placebo Effect.

Hint: The buyer needs to get off their ass and do some
WORK to actually get results - provided the system in
the solution they've purchased actually works in the
    first place.

Moreover, the results people get in Internet Marketing
are also influenced by the subconscious beliefs people
have about themselves and their ability to succeed.

I've definetly come across my fair share of placebos in the IM marketplace.

Luckily all that matters is the end result.

Not necessarily the more expensive one but definitely the one in the shiniest packaging. The graphics on my sales pages have had a huge impact on the conversion rate simply because they make the whole thing appear more professional.
