The current state of Internet Marketing?

Hi, Warrior forum members. I'm a new member here as you can see and so far I'm glad I decided to join. I must have learned more here in the past 3 days then I have from Wealthy Affiliate in the past 9 or 10 months.

But there is one thing that is really bothering me and I'm really losing sleep over it; What is the current state of the Internet Marketing realm? I keep seeing all these R.I.P signs and whatnot. I am wondering, are we at the point where beginner's who haven't made their first dollar (such as myself) cannot get to the top anymore?

I haven't taken my first action. I was going to go into the clickbank realm as a starter so I can dabble and get to experience article and email marketing while practicing SEO but now I'm not so sure if that's the most financially viable way.

That's surprising. Wealthy Affiliates is highly acclaimed.
Well don't sit on the fence, take action.
You don't make money reading stuff.

These RIP posts are contagious. As soon as someone posts one then a whole slew of them appear. Internet Marketing is hard. Because it is easy to get into then people think it is easy to do. It isn't and a lot of people fail. When they fail they don't accept responsibility for the failure but rather claim that whatever they tried to do is dead.

I think the problem is that people think "internet marketing" and "making money off the internet" is the same thing. It isn't. IM is a particular branch of marketing.

It is incredible that you have people working in fast food restaurants, hotels, hospitals and so on who suddenly think "I'll quit my job and go into marketing."

It's not a class thing or an intelligence thing. I have doctors in my family (medical and academic) and they don't get marketing. They don't have the skills needed. My sister, a doctor, can not write a persuasive 500 word article. She's always stuck to the sciences and found writing things like essays and reports difficult. Her husband, a university professor, can not understand that a written piece that convinces you that the author is correct does not necessarily convince you to buy the product he's promoting.

Both of them could learn marketing skills if they wanted to. Many people can but also, and unfortunately, many people can not.

I think that we'd see a lot less RIP posts and a lot less frustrated people if we had less people thinking in terms of "making money on the internet" and a lot more people thinking about "going into marketing".

Which means, of course, that I think the current state of Internet Marketing is difficult, not dead.

More and more people come online. The internet is here to stay.

People have made or lost money in the past, make or lose money now and will make or lose money in the future.

You control your future and it ain't too late. But you need to be in it for the long haul.

First let me say @Greg you are amazing if you drive in that weather I heard about it! GEEZE! LOL

Greg and Kierkegaard have great points and i would simply add to Kierkegaard by saying

"Anyone can be an entrepreneur but not everyone can be an entrepreneur"

And no it is not dead (IM) it is evolving.

Most of the XXXX is dead threads actually seem to be a promotion for something else.

Don't believe the hype, if you are prepared to work at it then you can make a success at any area of IM you try.

Unfortunately a lot of people believe that there is a magic bullet system or a 1 click piece of software that will fill you paypal account full of money. There is not and never has been and never will be an easy way to make money online.

Some people get lucky, but I've found the harder I work, the more hours i put in the luckier I get. I could tell you about how I made $8000 in 3 hours a few weeks back.... But I like most people would probably forget to mention the 3 weeks solid work i put into it

The best way to look at Internet Marketing is that it's a form of selling. And selling has been around since two humans met and wanted to trade goods, which is a very long time. The core basics of selling is all there, all you need to do is ACT, test, measure and adjust. It takes alot of work and belief but it's all worth in the end. After all you're working for yourself.

    Congratulations iStealSushi

No, Internet Marketing is not dead, but it's changing faster than heck. And most of those R.I.P signs you see are people who ...

    1. Failed To Keep Up With the Changes in IM!
    2. Failed To Stay Informed!
    3. Failed To Read The Warrior Forum!

Beware of the ultimate rookie mistake! ... Avoid the temptation of chasing after money making opportunities. Instead find what you love to do -- and the money will chase you.

Uncertainty is why you're losing sleep. The best way to combat it is to take action. You will no longer have to "wonder if" IM is dying. You will know first hand by your own actions.

    Take care
