I've come to the realization that I'm not expert on anything - I'm moderately good on most things. I'm better than average on some things. But an expert I'm not. So I'm going to make myself an expert. I've chosen the niche, and started gathering information, reading reading reading. I even have the domain name for the product.
Am i destined to fail if I don't write 3 paragraphs for every 1 good sentence of information? I understand setting up the sale, and even creating a rapport with your reader (after the sale), but when I buy a product that's suppose to tell me something important .. I want you to flippin tell me! I've paid for it already, you already sold me!
I don't think you can say it's a proven fact that this style is successful, because people don't know it's that style until after they've bought the product. Is it just because a lot of people only have maybe 2 or 3 original things to say, and the rest is just filler so people don't think they paid $20 for one paragraph (which is all it really boils down to).
.
So maybe if it's not for "Make Money Fast" - the style is different. Lawdy I hope so! It's certainly going to be with mine!

    Firstly, kudos on your ambition.
Secondly, kudos on your ability to sniff out bs.

Now...you are on the right path to becoming an expert. Hopefully this is something you are more than mildly interested in because then learning about it will be fun. I agree that I hate buying information products that fill out one sentence for 3 pages and call it great value. I've paid 10 dollars for books that changed my life and 30 dollars for books I could have written in one page.

I think what it boils down to is value. Sure some people would say perceived value but I say value. For the longevity of this business you actually have to give people more than what they need. When they feel like they are being treated more than adequately, they are going to be much better customers. People communicate more than ever and if you are providing excellent value, others will hear of it and you will actually do better.

Will this require more work? Absolutely. But you already seem willing to put in that extra work.

Now that being said...you don't have to know more than every person on this planet about your subject. If you know a decent amount, you already know more than a fair amount of people who you can already help. Basically I'm saying get started now on setting up your idea and you can tack on the extra info you need as you go.

    Good luck!

Nancy and Bob you have an interesting conversation going on in the corner of this Forum.

I would like to clarify with one element that really is the CORE essence of value....and that is (drumroll please) "problem solving" or as i call it Solve to Sell. People "value" your product because you are helping them "solve" your problem. That is why Nancy you are already sold and Bob you learned more from that $10 dollar book vs the $30 one.

As far as being a authority in your niche WELLLLLL that gets interesting too (or is it to?)

Look at CNN. The guest people sometimes has some of the MOST INTERESTING people who have the mind of a well er ah let me put it this way"it takes a village to raise an idiot" LOL

My point here is that we are all experts on something Nancy. Expert by definition means adept: having or showing knowledge and skill and aptitude.

We all have that in some area of our lives. The goal online is to connect the dots of passion to talent to audience in search of a solution and BOOM we are on FIRE BABY!

I am glad that you are trying to become a good expert in your field. You must have that in order to be a successful IM'er. Otherwise people will not pay attention to you and will not buy from you. Keep it up

Hey Nancy, here something I posted in an older thread that I think you might find helpful perspective wise.

Say you see your self as a level 5 or 6 on scale of 1 to 10 when it comes to your knowledge on a topic or niche. You, might say to your self "damn look at all these other guys who seem to know more then me"..."how can I compete with these guys who are like a level 10 if I'm only a 6?"

We'll to the people interested in your topic who are between levels 1-5 on the knowledge scale you are a freaking jedi master guru on the subject. You can teach these folks a lot of useful things.

To them the level 10 guy is way to advance and over there head. Heck he might be confusing them because hes coming from such a high level...

Now combine what I just wrote and add your own uniqueness and personality to the mix. Now you've got even more to offer.

Also you can really set your self apart from other people in your niche by simply being a better communicator. Be more clear, more interesting, add some humor, etc.

You can do it...so can everyone else. We all have plenty to offer, but many of us are blind to our own value and worth because we are to busy comparing ourselves to others...

Much love, health, wealth & prosperity,
    Daniel.

If it makes you feel better, I once heard that traditionally published nonfiction books-if boiled down to the core information-would come out to be about 10 pages long.
