A very interesting read about the recent Google updates:

During this week, Google announced a significant algorithm-update which aims to increase quality in Google's search results. Domains containing low-quality content are supposed to be found less often, high-quality pages are to achieve better rankings. At the moment this update is active in the US-Index, more countries are about to follow.....

There are already several discussions on this topic...it might be better to add your two cents to those rather than starting yet another thread on the same topic.

A very interesting take on the algo change over at Google.

Ezine is included in there for what looks like probably for the number of duplicated content that it has.

This is not to say that the content is duplicate but it is content that is similar and not of authority in comparison to other sites. ehow has not received a slap simply because Google believes it is providing valuable researched content for the readers.

My last few experiences of using ehow to conduct research was positive. The articles I can across were quite in-depth and helpful how to's, ezine rarely demonstrates this.

The inclusion of images and video may also contribute towards this however on the flip side Mahola has also been effected.

The discussion on forums is that big players with adsense are being rewarded and small content farms will see the most hit, but ezinearticles.com is not a small player but subsequently has also been hit.

The lesson is for the future of site creators is to build fresh and consistent content day in and day out to reap the rewards unless you are going for low competitive keywords where the competition is weak enough for your site to be reward by Google.
