How Many Posts Need To Have To PM Someone?

How many posts does one need to be able to send PM's to others?

You'd be surprised how hard this is to find on one's own without posting this. I spent a significant amount of time searching the forum to locate the answer! I checked the FAQ, using the search for phrases and several other places. I don't know if the amount has changed, as I've PMed others before, but recently sent one without a response yet, so I'm curious. And also, where would this info be listed at? I could not find it!

Thanks,

LastWarrior

I'm not sure it is listed anywhere.

This is one of those rules that exists because of a tradeoff of hassles. By having the limit, we get quite a few people who come in and post a ton of one-liners, in an effort to get PM access. Some of them just so they can spam people privately. If we didn't have it, we'd be getting a lot more PM spam from brand new accounts.

It's better for the mods to police the one-liners. That can be relatively quick, once you report it.

    Thank you for the replies.

As I said, I did some extensive searching and was frustrated I couldn't find such a simple answer. Then things change, as I was able to PM earlier, below 50 posts, but recently sent a PM without a hint of a reply. And it's extremely important. I'll just post it here later.

    Thank you.

The fact that someone didn't reply means nothing as far as your ability to send a PM. Sometimes people just don't answer back. And sometimes they haven't been online since you PM'd them.

Most things that warrant a private message don't need to be discussed in public.

Who you talking to here? Because that's a given as far as any info is concerned and is nothing I don't know.

The fact could be that if one were to send a PM and they didn't know there were restrictions based on the amount of posts they had... and the forum didn't warn such fact, then said person could have sent a PM that didn't go through.

50 posts - Just found out myself! Guess you could always drop your chat handle on skype or AIM if you wanted to really talk to someone and get around the PM barrier. While this is a big annoying, I can appreciate that Warrior Forum does this as to prevent dumbos from spamming out PMs when they haven't contributed to the community.

Unfortunately you won't find that answer there regarding number of posts needed for PM's.

To be honest, I think this number should be undisclosed.

If people don't know how many posts they have to reach then they would "maybe" skip one liners.

I mean, it's easy to get desperate when you know you are just 20 posts away but if you don't know at all that won't be a problem.

But that might just worsen the problem so I don't know

I was looking for this question. Thanks for asking it. Muhammad, I think that knowing how many post are left to be able to sen a pm is better. In my case, it helps me know what is required for me to be able to pm the author of a WSO for instance.

I've been around for quite some time but mostly lurking and learning. It's good to know the actual number. Wasn't aware of it until I tried to PM someone and it said I couldn't! Getting closer to that 50!
