INTERNET MARKETING

So, one of our less-well-informed members swiped the copy from an earlier WSO and used it in toto. Complete. The whole hog, without a bristle out of place.

Told me it was from his swipe file, and seemed to think adding things at the end made it okay. So, I went looking for an explanation of the proper use of a swipe file, in the hopes of educating the silly critter. I found this tragic piece:

This is the sort of dreck that makes people want to choke the living bejeebers out of anyone who even utters the phrase "article spinning." This is the kind of crap that wastes the time of hundreds of thousands of people, every day. And it's why Google is slapping the hell out of so many sites.

If you pump out this kind of garbage, you deserve every finger of that slap. But one perhaps a bit more than the others.

At least Google is still bringing back accurate results as this thread sits in the number 4 position for the highly valuable keyword phrase "Crapper Foliage"

That site owner couldn't even win a bad writing contest with that mess. That was one of the funniest I've seen in a long time.

What really makes me curious though is how did the site owner get Verizon, Lenox and Turbo Tax ads on there. I thought that most companies vetted their affiliates to avoid this type of site???

Actually it is spinese for "outhouse leaf" which was very popular during the caveman era well before toilet paper was invented.

Of course, poison ivy ran amok resulting in the switch from the ever popular outhouse leaf.

Naw, he didn't invent the modern flush toilet, and his name also isn't the origin of the word "crap". Just an interesting coincidence that he happened to be in the crapper business.

Absolutely hilarious, Paul. I was just asked this week by one of my buyers whether one of my products had resale rights...he had implicitly "assumed" that it came with these rights even though I had not mentioned it anywhere in the sales copy! People treat copyright infringement far too lightly, and unfortunately when they finally realize its implications after encountering some legal/punitive action, it's already too late.

Basically, whenever you become crossways an ad or income honor that makes you poverty to separate and clutch your wallet... kibosh and indicant discover that double first!

WHY? WHY?!?! Why aren't we giving this advice to ALL new people!?

I can only imagine how much quicker I would have found success if I would have "kibosh and indicant discover that double first!"

Perhaps an ongoing contest for "Best Spin of 2011" would be fun. (Or "Worst", "Funniest", "Most Impenetrable")

  Another tip for you article spinners:
  
  If you don't actually have a good article spinner, what you can do is go over to babelfish at yahoo. Then you paste in the text you want to change.
  
  Translate it to chinese and then from chinese back to english.
  
  It works like a charm. Here's an example:
  
  Original text
  
  "How to write original articles without spinning.
  
  If you want to make loads of bucks then you don't have to spin. Write lots of original, high quality content and put it on your own site.
  
  Create backlinks and away you go."
  
  Here's the english to chinese translation and back to english:
  
  "How to write the primitive article, does not use the rotation.
  
  If you want to make buck loading then your don' t must rotate. Writes many primitively, the high grade content, and invests its alone selected location.
  
  Creates backlinks, and you get out of the way."
  
  So as you can see, it works like a charm. You don't have to buy spinning software and so save mucho dolla.

Just for fun I had a quick wander through the site - that was one of the better pages - it had more than just a headline on it!

Do sites like this actually achieve something - other than pissing people off and making google say "we need to design an algorithm that will remove sites like this from the index"
