Challenge People's Behavior and Strategy = Gain Exposure and Traffic
So, one thing that makes us freak out as human beings is our behaviors, beliefs and standard operating procedures being challenged.
In other words, if I come in and say "hey, the way you're doing things is about to NOT work, or it's a bit shady," and then I make a suggestion as to what I think you should do instead, you freak out.
This is not just something some people do every now and then, it's a natural human tendency (if you pay attention to patterns in human behavior).
What's interesting about that is that if you challenge people's beliefs, you're bound to get a ton of traffic in a buzzing online world.
That doesn't mean I advocate deliberately starting controversy to trigger or catalyze link juice from a negative debate, or any debate, but I think it underscores the importance of NOT trying to please everyone, and writing content that appeals to specific people. The extra traffic is just a neat bonus.
