The "Death Of Obstacles"

I know I'm "new" around here from a sign up stand point, but I swear if I see another "Death of [Enter Marketing Method Here]" thread I might just lose it.

Hence this post, the "Death of Obstacles!"

Article Marketing is NOT dead. Affiliate Marketing is NOT dead. List building is FAR from dead!

Stop looking for obstacles that seem to be impeding your success. Internet marketing is first and foremost a business. If you want to run a successful business you need to learn how to adapt.

Example follows:

Man runs sandwich shop on the corner of a high traffic intersection. He shows up to work one day and is unpleasantly greeted with heavy construction and has to drive over the curb to get to his shop. Obviously his sales are going to be hindered this day.

He gets out of his car and asks a construction worker whats going on. The worker tells him that they will be there for the next week. Now what does the man do? How is he going to sell sandwiches if no one can get to his shop during the construction--which has damn near shut down the intersection?

He thinks to himself that a week of down business could severely hurt him. He's not a big franchise and is just another small business owner trying to create his own empire.

Does he just throw his hands up in the air and claim this is the DEATH of his business? I guess he could, but how is that going to help him out of his current dilemma?

So he starts to formulate a plan. Could he talk to neighboring businesses to see if its OK for him to encourage his customers to park there and walk over? Damn straight he could.

Could he hire several part timers to make sandwich deliveries? That would work too! Could he partner with a local radio station to get the word out about now taking orders for delivery? Even better!

Bottom line is that the sandwich shop owner's traffic has essentially dried up which was not any fault of his own. If he wants to survive this unexpected event he's going to need to learn how to adapt--and maybe get a little creative.

I assure you, if he wants to succeed he's not going to call up all of his friends and piss and moan about the "DEATH of his main traffic source."

He'll adapt. He'll find a way. He's not going to let that single obstacle get in his way of success.

The world of internet marketing is bound to change--sometimes overnight.

Either accept that and learn to adapt to keep your business alive or we'll see you in the next "death of a marketing method" thread!

Add competition to your list, being active in a couple of threads where this is a big reason for people not wanting to even try.

If your product is suspect, then you might have a reason to fear competition. But, if your product is solid then your competition will help you raise your bar.

If you are promoting someone else, then find a way to add value to what they have already done. Make yourself stand out above and beyond the product owner. There are plenty of products where an affiliate has the best bonus or offer with a product in comparison to the product owner or other affiliates... strive to be that person.

Competition is a big factor, but when it comes to the "Death" threads they all seemingly involve some form of marketing that just isn't that "hot" right now.

And in droves they bounce from that marketing method to the next instead of learning how to adapt and move forward.

For example if I use forum marketing to drive traffic to an article on Ezine Articles am I no longer "Article Marketing?"

Do you have to rely on traffic from the search engines to be an "Article Marketer?"

Competition is an obstacle, one that I think many beginners fear because they just don't know any better.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Okay nevermind, screw you I will still post my "list building is dead" thread. Those kinds of threads get a lot of attention and exposure and that's exactly what I want

Ezine articles traffic is down 35% as a result of the Google algo change.

I don't think people are seriously saying it's "dead" as in "finished", but what they are saying, sensibly, is that it might be time to look at other methods.

So I would say, use your common sense and don't take everything literally.
