Question for those of you running review websites

I have a question about website structure for those of you that have review websites to promote affiliate products.

Suppose you are building a review site that will have multiple testimonial pages about various products. How do you setup your traffic flow to the merchant site?

Structure A: Review Page -> Merchant
So you have a review page about Wonderproduct XZY. Throughout the review you have links in various shapes that say "click here to buy this product" or whatever.

Structure B: Review Page -> Product Page -> Merchant
You've got one or more review pages about Wonderproduct XYZ. The review has links that say "want more reviews or information on Wonderproduct XYZ, click here!" or whatever. When a visitor clicks that link, they go to a central page on your site that is more sales-oriented. This page links to multiple reviews within your site, but it emphasizes links to the merchant to buy the product.

Which do you go with?

I always use Structure A. Your goal is to get them to the sales page. Let the sales page actually sell to them. The more loops they have to jump through to get to the sales page, the less likely you are to bag the sale.

Yeah structure A would be the way to go I'd say, the more clicks they have to get through, the more chance you have of losing them in some way.

But I have a question on this myself - I use a WP review theme at Home Staging Review and I love the nifty table it creates, but I was wondering if you can hide the review posts that appear below? Or would this affect conversions?

I definitely agree, structure A gets the reader to the sales page quicker which is ultimately your goal. Unless of course the product is your own, but you wouldn't be reviewing it then. Any good product will have lots of testimonials, to really pull the visitor into the sale.

Let your review be, just that, a review. Let the merchant sell his product, just make sure to make a small effort to pre sell your visitors with the pros and cons of a product. Yes you saw that right, make sure to add a few cons. No product is perfect and it gives you more credibility!

You can use both structures, you just need to do both right.
