What is Unique Content???

As with enough time and perseverence you can find everything on the internet....what is unique content?

I can spend hours researching articles or pages for my site, write them and publish, however it really isn't unique! I haven't had a brilliant idea that nobody else has had before.

So what is unique content?

All this google stuff has my head spinning....i'm so confused!
#content #unique

My rule of thumb is to do the research, read up on the topics/product/service (or whatever the case may be) and then sit down and put it down in your own words.

Using your own vocabulary and writing from a reflection of your research will come across interesting and different, i.e. unique.

Just rearranging a few paragraphs, or spinning an existing article will not read well, and will sound somewhat unnatural. Of course, it will be understandable, but not as fresh and passionate as it would be if it came from your own thoughts and digested information.

  • Hi Merlincat. Unique content, in my opinion, is:

Content integrated with a person's own observations, inferences, test results, theories and
perspectives, aimed at providing a specific target audience with benefits not found
elsewhere, delivered in a style and packaging not found elsewhere...

Unique content meaning if your going to write an article it should be unique from others, or there's a big differences between the other articles that can only be seen in your writings.

THIS. I couldn't have said this more perfectly, even if I'd tried my hardest.

I agree with Richard. Marx summed it up about as well as it could be summed up.

I'm awesome at being unique. In fact, my mom always called me special. I mean, not everyone got to wear a helmet to school.

In my personal, never-been-said-like-this opinion unique content is:

Content integrated with a person's own observations, inferences, test results, theories and
perspectives, aimed at providing a specific target audience with benefits not found
elsewhere, delivered in a style and packaging not found elsewhere..

      Wait...

I think that was a fabulous definition of unique content. Will use it when communicating with my team of writers.

For the OP, Unique content in my own words is simply a straight flow of thought after reading and researching. Chances of plagiarism are very low, when you do not revert back to reading someone else's content in the middle of an article.

If you are writing seo content, this should work to pass copyscape or any plagiarism filters and would seem very readable.

You can not reinvent the wheels my brother.

The uniqueness of the articles in your posts depends on your ability to refocus the direction of some of your findings without copying word to word what was written earlier.

You can change the meaning to suit your individual taste and use your own words.

If it is not entirely unique, at least it will not be the same as any other.

You can pick opinions and chose one point from there to write on etc.

Well i think your website does not have a chance of being in the top search engine rankings if it does not have enough unique content to support and explain itself. Therefore, unlike earlier content is being paid huge attention to and people are making special efforts to create content that is interesting, aspiring and educating.

Do you know how much room there is to provide significant value online? Write about something that you personally experiment with or test. Write about your experiences with WSO's or some kind of product or service: eJunkie, Market Samurai.

With this approach, it isn't hard at all to have unique content. The only 'problem': Unique content takes time, effort, and a genuine concern for readers. That's why earning online shouldn't be an overnight thing, either.

As per my thoughts uniqueness comes from experience, its something that you put in your very own wording/vocabulary, its not something which is copy/pasting/rearranging etc...
A unique topic is not which has been discussed million times already by different people in different forums like global warming
To sum up the things unique is something which takes birth from your very own brain and not by analyzing others samples

I suggest you use original and unique content on your own site, since it's good for SEO and would bring more traffic. I know maybe it's a little hard to write an article per several days, however, you should do your best on this work.

You are right, it's not easy creating truly unique content, or more accurately, "original" content.

You can take concepts others have generated and create a unique article that covers it in a different way. Such an article would include your own thoughts and insights on the subject (as someone already explained).

An original article, on the other hand, would offer something new, like a new angle, a new element, a new solution, a new discovery, etc.

Make your work unique by making sure it is 80% original and you're home free.

People often say there's nothing new to write about, but if you get really creative you are sure to find something.

For most webmasters "unique" just means "Copyscape passed". But in reality Marx summed it up.

Writing unique content depends on knowledge. You can acquire knowledge by making a research and then rewrite everything in your own words, or you can write about the things you already know.

However, you have to find the right keywords to attract search engine traffic. You also have to attract many readers by writing appealing text. This is not a simple matter.

You can purchase articles written by ghostwriters instead of trying to do something you are not familiar with. If you’ll write your articles yourself, you probably won’t have positive results even if your content is original (unique), unless you’ll study article writing and marketing.

It's intresting that when I first started writing stuff online, I would spend ages researching, making notes and then writing and editing articles. It was quite slow!

And then someone on WF said about speeding up (quoting a huge number of articles per day) and advised simply looking at popular keywords and successful articles, then rewriting them. This would certainly speed the process up!

But I think my original approach is more inline with the above description of "unique content".

Although I doubt I could use this approach to write 1000 articles as ezine newsletter recently suggested.

Unique content is when you put PLR articles through a spinner. Afterwards, you have 250 unique content articles. Voila!

There is very little that is unique. Think in terms of original. Take the basic idea behind your article and if you can say that that idea originated from you then you have a worthwhile article - assuming the original idea is worthwhile.

If you write something like 5 reasons you should have a list and just write - even in your own words - five reasons that everyone is saying on almost every IM site everywhere, then your article is just spam.

People are looking for genuine advice not just an article you have written purely to get them to buy something your promoting. Because your giving them something they don't want, your serving up spam.

It is this that google is trying to stop.
