FINALLY feel like I'm getting somewhere!

No, I haven't made any money yet, but I finally have my first site up and running! It's been up a couple of weeks now and I've been steadily trying to add content...not many backlinks yet, but at this point I'm just happy I've made some progress and now have a solid starting point. Now, it's just a matter of linking and fine-tuning.

I'm not sure why this mood hit me all of a sudden. Maybe the realization that I finally have some time to devote to this. I've been itching to get into internet marketing for a while now, but ended up having to put it off for a good chunk of time because I was working 15 hour days at my regular job (UGH!). Now that I'm back to the regular 8 to 5 grind, I have some spare time to focus...plus, it's 5:30 in the morning and I'm really wired.

On a sidenote, kudos to this forum and the folks in it. I've been a fan of this site for a long time. Hardly ever posted, but I have learned a lot from all of the threads. Thank you so much for all of the information you've offered!

Get ready for ups and downs. Some days you will feel like everything is working and some days you will be wondering if it is all worth it. Just remember content is king, but only if it is "smart content" meaning content that is well written, useful and directional.

If people don't like it, search engines won't either. Focus on this each day and congratulations on getting things up and running...

Get some traffic and then monetize that sucker...

    Think strategic and not opportunistic.

The most fruitful method is one that has a longer term strategy in it for you.

seriously man! You could make a lot of money from just one site and not multiple projects here and there. I see guys building sites all the time getting 1,000 of daily targeted unique visitors, however their downfall is not knowing how to monetise and marketing the site better.

so the knowledge you gather here can go a long way for you.

    Google luck to you

Great work, make sure you are offering quality content as when I started I was so keen to get a site up and finished that I did not focus on the content as much as driving traffic and optimizing my site, what I ended up with was a site with plenty of visitors and no sales.

Thanks, guys! I'm seriously excited right now.

You guys are right about the content and I've been trying to make sure it is quality, unique stuff. I admit to being a bit of a nit-picker, so I suspect I'll even go back and modify some of the content that is already there if I think it needs improvement.

I'm trying hard not to get ahead of myself...I have a lot of ideas for the site swirling in my head and would love for it to make me a good chunk of change in the future. Right now, I'm just trying to focus on one thing at a time because, as already mentioned, there will be ups and downs. But, if there is one thing I've learned from this forum, it's to keep trying at it and not give up so easily.

I know it will take time, which is fine by me because it will probably take me some time to get to the final product I picture in my head. lol

Anyhow, I'm off to the day job! Hope everyone has a great day!
