Good! Round 'em all up and lock 'em away. Send a message. This crap paints all of us with a dirty brush.

Hmmm... Advertising non-existent jobs. Selling people consulting courses and basing the price on how much credit they have available. Charging people monthly fees without their prior knowledge.

      Any of this sound familiar?

Many in our industry assume way too much when it comes to what's illegal and what's not.

Same goes with accounting, but that's a story for another day.

You know, it does ring a bell, let me think of it a minute...oh yeah! I only have one question; is it illegal if you have an option to buy a monthly subscription on the order page, and by default you have the checkbox checked? Would that be unethical?

Yes, always make them check the box if they want it.

I have to go get ready for a date with a hottie. I met her online and all I had to do was fill out a survey.

AWESOME!! Hopefully the FTC will continue shutting these guys down. They could probably find a lot more targets to shut down by reading the WSO section here - lol.

"The FTC sued Business Recovery Services and a defendant named Brian Hessler in Arizona for the fraudulent telemarketing of services to "help consumers recover money they had lost to business opportunity and work-at-home operations."

The above is actually one of the oldest scams going.

Hustlers and con-artists basically trade lists of 'suckers' and then call them and offer to recover their lost funds (funds that their buddy took only months before!)..

There's an infomercial for an Affiliate Marketing bizopp offer that's been running on TV for quite some time. Reportedly, they are offering a cheap front end product & then following up with some sort of coaching/high priced program.

I'm not a fan of this type of "coaching" offer. Years ago, I bought an info product & then got a call from "the author's office" offering me coaching. They started at $5,000 and ended up reducing it $900! (I didn't buy.)
