Help! My Article Has Been Syndicated And Stolen!

Hey all

I posted my article on EzineArticles. It was sindicated to a website that makes money through adsense, and I'm not very happy about the fact that they did not maintain my resource links!!! They've actually put in their own links instead!

The owner of the website is a downright thief and I want them punished! What do I do? o_O

    Hey buddy,

contact the site owner and ask them to restore the content to its unaltered condition. If you receive no response after a couple of days, or the owner gives you the finger, send a DMCA notice to the hosting provider for that website.

This resource should help you in drawing up your DMCA notice:Marketing In Underwear » DMCA Takedown Template

    Chris

EDIT: I almost forgot, contact Google and provide evidence that the site owner is violating your copyright and his Adsense account will be shut down.

  • Unfortunately this is just the reality of article marketing. It's unlikely that either EZA or the thief will do anything if you contact them. Just expect that a certain % of published articles will retain your resource box and a certain % won't.

It's also frustrating to have resource box links nofollow'ed which I believe is against EZA terms as well, but there's little recourse.

That's actually NOT true...I have had to tell people to take my stuff down before a few times and they complied. Not to mention if they don't take it down you contact their web host and ISP and they will comply.

If they ignore your DMCA takedown notice, send another DMCA takedown notice to their hosting company. The majority of the time the hosting company will take down the entire site.

If for some reason the hosting company ignores you, send the next DMCA takedown notice to their upstream provider. Keep going up the food chain until you get the results you want.

Also send notices to any affiliate programs they use. It does not take much to put some serious heat on a thief.

Before you go ahead and accuse them make sure you are in the right. Was the content written by you personally or did you outsource the content creation? If you outsourced it did you make sure the content they wrote for you was unique and not copied from somewhere else?

I'm not saying you have used anyone else's work but I just thought I would raise the point. You can get some really dodgy article writers out there these days.

Thanks for this post and the replies. The same thing has happened to me more than once. I sent a cease and desist, which was just ignored.

After reading this thread, I will take action again.

Email Google who will delete them from the search results for breach of the digital millennium copyright act. Then contact them and warn them of the penalties

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do, you can't prove anything. All these people advicing for DMCA notices for 1 article, get real and stop advising people to waste their time.

It's not fair but some things are the way they are and better focus your time and energy making money not fighting wind mills.

I do tend to agree with this statement. If you get caught up in little battles like this everytime something goes wrong then you won't get very far with your business. Things like this suck, yes, but you don't want them to negatively impact your business anymore than they need to.

I always give the same advice to those people who worry and worry about their refund rates. Stop worrying about lowering your refund rate and instead concentrate on getting new customers to your business and making more sales - it's time better spent.

Refunds are always going to happen. You should always be putting out the best quality goods and services you can so that if/when refunds happen, you know you did your best and there is nothing you can do about it. Some people just like to take advantage. Don't let it disrupt your business anymore than it needs to.

LOL You are so full of crap it's actually funny. Post one of my articles illegally and see how fast I can make your life miserable.

DMCA takedown notices properly served work great. I don't care who you host with. I can get your site taken down or your income to the site stopped.

Wrong. If you contact the support email of their webhosting, they usually take action. you just have to do your part by monitoring how things go.

This is why its important to invest in your OWN SITE, not someone elses! Your content is the most valuable asset you have.

Publish the high quality stuff on your own site, and anything that you feel can be shared freely on the web should be promoted offsite.

This wont prevent content theft, but its at least a start.
