What Kind of Mails Do You Look Forward to Opening?

I am adjusting my email marketing strategies and was wondering what are the kind of emails do you look forward to opening? why?

      I have a system. If after the first 1-3 mails on some newsletter I didn't find anything of value then I'll put the emailadress in a filter and have them automatically marked as read and not shown in my inbox. I still sometimes look down over the list and opens one or two but it is rare. However Brad Gosse's emails haven't yet been put in that filter for some reason. In general I I tend to stop reading newsletters fast if there's affiliate links in all of them. I like to get some in between with just good info and not pushy.

      I remember that feeling After a while those too will get into a filter so you don't have to go through them - or that's what I do at least

        Hi,

        I will tell you what NOT to do. Don't put in the subject that I have made a sale when I haven't! I find those emails irksome because I feel deceived. If you have to trick me into opening your email...you've lost me! I usually unsubscribe from those lists asap.

        I look forward to SHORT, informative emails that offer me a quality video or short, valuable report.

    I look forward to mails that teach me something new related to IM but unfortunately there are very few marketers who send such mails... Most of the gurus just send hyped up product launch mails, so I promptly unsubscribe from them

      I like emails that can stand on their own as useful. The semi-exception of this is a summary of your latest blog post or article. Since I know that's not a sales pitch, I know I can just click and finish reading if I want. That's easy and I'll get something even more useful.

      If it has a link in it, the email had better be good on it's own. Good enough that I didn't mind taking the time to read and wasn't necessarily expecting a soft sales pitch at the end. And again, I may not even mind that if I liked what I read. Even if I dont' buy that time, I probably won't mind seeing that again because I'm still getting good info anyway.

      To me, I'd be more inclined to take the purchase suggestion if I already thought the writer was giving me enough without expecting the sale. It sounds a little bit opposite, but overdelivering on the content makes me more inclined to think that person is only suggesting things that would also be as useful as the content they send.

      EDIT - I'm not saying make them long emails, just saying make them really useful.

    E-mails that are specific to what I originally opted for.

    If I join a list for a product on outsourcing, then I will likely be interested in any further e-mails about outsourcing. That's just an example.

    Don't necessarily try and make people hungry for topics that they never sought after in the first place. Have people opting in for a solution that helps them but doesn't tell them EVERYTHING. That way, you can keep their attention on the same topic you KNOW they're seeking information on. This of course becomes good for upselling.

    I like to open the emails from the marketers who I know send me great quality content. If they weave an affiliate link in at the end, I don't mind because they've given me real, actionable info first.
