Android app doesn't even need marketing

I have been writing applications in windows world for last so many years...and the hardest thing was to bring traffic to my site.

Couple of weeks ago, I wrote an android app and people have been just download and using it...I have not done any marketing for it.

In a week or so the app will be in 5K-10K download range. Which tooks months and months for my windows apps.

So, people...just do something for android...anything....before it gets cluttered like windows...

Good advice. I wish I knew how to create apps for some of these hot products out using the Android OS. Seems some people are making some decent money doing it..

I write iPhone apps and to be honest if you create useful apps people will download them regardless of how populated the app store is.

I always try to create something useful that would benefit me. If it benefits me it's likely to benefit others.

That's good numbers for something so new and not doing any of your own promo for it.
I would guess the app is something in demand...either that or a complete time waster (game?).

What you you suggest starting out with for a new person in this apps field?

It is called Job Finder. Take a look at it here https://market.android.com/details?id=mt.Jobfinder. There are several job search applications on android, but I believe mine is the best...and the next version is going to be even better :-)

Whatever you are doing in the internet/windows world...just do it in android world.

Telling you the truth...I have no idea about android market and users at this point and all the other apps who are doing the same thing as mine are also free. I am building list though. They register and then start using the app.

This is also a learning experience for me.

I have done some research and the next app that I am building doesn't have much competition and I can start charging for that one.

            Thanks for your reply.

I guess if you built a free "Lite" version, downloaders could upgrade to the full version with all the bells and whistles for a fee.
If you had the programming in place, you could message them on their phones about the upgrade.

            Good stuff, thanks.

Thanks for sharing this, the Android market is still wide open as we speak while it plays catch-up to the iPhone app store. So this first app of yours is free, but you're working on a second app that is paid?

If it's a job finder type of app, there's a strong possibility you could monetize it with ads, i.e. make it ad supported but free - I don't think users would mind at all, as long as your app provides value to them.

It all depends on the usefulness. If it's a good, popular, useful product. People will search it up. If you can get it like "Featured" on the App Store or Android Market even better.

Also, since there are less apps in Android you have less competition, but more exposure to your viewers/interested customers.

Anyways, congratulations and thanks for the info on this.
    Good luck!

iPhone market still generates 92% of all app downloads and the in the UK a local web development company did a mail shot and notices that Apple OS clients were the ones that were opening the content. Just to point out that 'early bird catches the worm'.

Android although the fastest growing still has a long way to go. The restrictions on iPhone has been app developers advantage, Android is open in more ways you can think of so the 'funnelling' is not as easy for an app as for Apple.

Nevertheless the OP is providing stats for marketing that has worked for him/her so with the right app you can easily rake up the downloads. Free apps still generate ad revenues and paid apps a paid apps. Those who monetize on apps for any of the smart phones use the freemium model

My son sent me this and I was going to buy it and then help him promote it but I'm not sure if there's a catch somewhere or not. Sounds too easy. What do you think? http://www.ez-1.net/genapp

Then I found this one about becoming an Android Themes Designer: http://wealthlpp.com/artheme

It's on Clickbank and it's the most "REAL" Salespage I've ever seen! The guy talking in the video sounds sooo cute too!! The only problem is I can't design anything to save my life!!
