Economy VS Online Marketing

So I was thinking what will make a good discussion thread. I came up with "How do you think the economy is effecting online marketing". Rite about now you mite have a strong opinion on this and you won't to comment but before you do hunker down and think of how you can explain your opinion so others will understand you.

My strong opinion on this topic:

The world's economy is tanking, people are losing their jobs left and right... apparently no matter what country you live...

People are looking online for a solution.

    Simple as that.

The global economic crisis is directly effecting the insane growth of online marketing.

Everyone has 'heard they could make $$$ on the internet'... they have seen the infomercials on internet millions, they are here online with you and me right now.

Be very aware of that fact.

Three types of economic systems exist, each with their own drawbacks and benefits; the Market Economy, the Planned Economy and the Mixed Economy.

An economic system is loosely defined as country's plan for its services, goods produced, and the exact way in which its economic plan is carried out. In general, there are three major types of economic systems prevailing around the world.

Online marketing is a blanket term that covers almost all of the ways to advertise on the Internet. The most common online marketing strategy is pay per click(PPC) advertising. Google show their paid advertising links on the right side of the results page under the "sponsored listings" section. These links are mini-adverts that are paid for by an advertiser on a per click basis. Using PPC is a great way to deliver many thousands of visitors to your website and is only limited by your budget.

I am unaffected by the economy - I am always in charge of my own destiny - win or lose.

I often times ask people how they are effected by the "bad economy" and often times (> 90%) can't think of how they are effected by the economy...

I blame the hype on the media for pointing out how miserable the economy is.... and giving the average listener a crutch or excuse for why they are failing... but in fact are giving folks an 'out' for self-accountability and making it easier to accept failure.

So am I affected by the economy? not really. I still eat, have a roof over my head, enjoy my family time and have customers. Good times or bad, I still have them all.

In reality, I think that most successful entrepreneurs in all industry's have a similar attitude and take media representations with a grain of salt.

TO me, the relationship is inverse.
More people will lose their job and they will try to look alternative in the internet which might lead them to internet marketing

honestly IMO believing there is a recession is a self created prophecy. Those who go into fear/chicken little mode create their own depression around them, those who still realize they can give an abundance of value to the world prosper.

Your life is your choosing, you can give into fear and blame everyone else for lacking in money / being depressed / frustration / anger etc, but really 99% of where you are today is your own making.

I kind of agree guys but!

As someone who has spent a lifetime working in and with both financial markets and prestige car businesses I do have some concerns.

I agree that a lot of things are attitude driven and we do make our own destiny's but the current crisis is of historical signifigance and only the focussed and very hard working will come out unscathed.

I was looking at some retail charts last week that showed retail exports in China and one interesting fact was that 10% of total exports to the states go to walmart.
That is a big stat when you stop and think about it when taking into account U.S situation.

The coal shipping charts also showed cost of boat hire.

4 months ago to hire a coal boat was about $290,000 each month

      last week $2400 per day.

So there is a very , very real drama in the worlds econnomy and I think that online entrepreneurs that do not shift there thinking will be effected.

personally my main focus is on consumer goods and price range items that people need, use and can afford.

I have just run a W.S.O featuring a whole range of online products that I currently promote and they are all physical products not information based but I do think that the amount of new people lining up to buy info products from Clickbank and the like will decline not grow.

Yes people will be keen to learn about online opportunities but also focused on reducing costs along the way.

Just an opinion and not meaning to be negative, just think the next 12 months will need entrepreneurs on and offline to think laterally

      Kind Regards

People are affected by constant bad economic news and adjust their money habits even if they are not affected or will not be affected. I have several friends in very secure jobs who are worried about their job and are hunkering down and putting a bit more money in the bank and cutting back on their traditional spending patterns.

None of them consider taking steps to build a part time second income stream on or off the web. They know and understand how to be an employee, not an entrepreneur.

So they put their extra money in the bank or accelerate bill repayment and spend their nights at home watching TV and hoping they have a job next week.

It takes a lot to kick a person out of his comfort zone.

Even folks who get laid off: most will invest only a few hours a week looking for a new job and wallow in pity the rest of the 40-50 hours they would normally have been working because they have the employee mindset and need to become an employee again.

Fore someone that is trying to rise up out of the employee-mined set, steping out of there comfort zone will definitely let them no that it is not a path for the light hearted.
