What's with the blatant design-style thievery?

I just got this e-mail about some "Arbitrage Conspiracy"...I didn't even pay attention to what it was about because the design distracted me... I feel like I've seen it before... but where... check out their website: http://www.arbitrageconspiracy.com/

Oh yeah, check this one out too... http://forexbrotherhood.com/

But it doesn't stop there! I also recently found Filsaime's "MarketingDotCom": http://marketingdotcom.com/

Check out ugh... Apple? Apple

If you go through Apple's website you'll find the majority of the components from Filsaime's website, right down to the Javascript and gradient colors.

Now I've got nothing against the owners of the products/websites, it's obviously not their fault... but what's happening to these designers? I can understand inspiration but wow!

EDIT: Could have sworn I was in the web design section... how do we move this sucker? :p

Calling this thievery is somewhat of a stretch. Suppose the similar sites
were created by the same designer? Is he obligated to come up with
a completely unique design for each and every one of his projects???
And what if a site owner specified that he wants a navigation menu
that looks just like Apple's? Is that copyright infringement???

Not really... I said it was design-style thievery.

The Arbitrage Conspiracy page is definitely not created by the same designer, otherwise they would have used the nice looking gradients on the text... not a wonky imitation lol. Plus from what I'm reading the Forex Brotherhood designer guy only creates designs for his own products.

Yeah... that's kind of the job of a graphic designer lol.

I'm not saying it's copyright infringement. Again... I said inspiration is one thing... it's not just like "Oh I grabbed the same style navigation as the webmaster requested"... look at this: Welcome to the Apple Store - Apple Store (Canada)

Navigation gradient/style/position is the same, the little section with the "Home" icon is the same, the gradient when you hover over the navigation/the current page you are on is the same, the placement of the search field is the same, the placement of the logo is the same, the page background gradient is literally identical, the little section gradients look like they were taken from here, etc.

Am I the only one that feels this way? Lol, I don't know... maybe I just expect too much creativity.

My response was intended to illustrate that there are
other possibilities besides blatant design-style thievery.
If I were you I would not make public accusations of
wrongdoing without having all the facts and I definitely
wouldn't insinuate that long-standing WF members are
doing anything unethical unless I was positive.
