I'm new! Please help.

Hi! Brilliant day to all!

I'm a freshman to this community, as well as the world of Internet Marketing. My fascination in this field started since a long time ago, but I had no idea where to go or where to start.
I understand that this community focuses on internet marketing (and i daresay in a pretty warm community), as well as the many different forms of it right, and i'm left with so many options to choose from -I've thought trying out article marketing and since everyone here is experienced in the right ways of starting off, will any kind soul help calm a newbie like me or give me some advice as to where to proceed from here?

Best wishes,
David

PS: I've purchased market samurai, and have well, acceptable writing skills. I'm not sure if I can persuade anyone. Any advice on all that would be totally brilliant.

Hi, I'm not very sure about the whole process. Do you take just one random keyword, then search for things that are most searched but yet has the least results?

If you can write, I guess you could:

    1. Research for niche topics with high paying keywords (if you are going with AdSense) or search keywords with low competition that you can promote a ClickBank product with
    2. Setup a simple blog site and put up a nice skin (there are many free and nice WP skins around). It'll be better if you can set up your blog site on a keyword rich domain.
    3. Write 5 - 6 high quality articles and post them to your blog
    4. Promote the ClickBank product using 1 - 2 (any more and it will look spammy) links in your blog posts. For instance, "To learn how to make money online, there are..." -> in this line you can hyperlink "make money online" with your ClickBank hop link.
    5. Usually we will submit spun versions to the article directories to drive up backlinks. However big G just declared war on content farms so you will need to find other ways. Blog commenting? Forum signatures?

Well, that's one simple way you can start IMHO.

David, there are many avenues of choice in Internet Marketing. Generally speaking, the best success comes with doing something you know and are interested in, especially if you are passionate about it. This might be building a web site about your favorite subject and writing quality and useful information about the subject.

This could also be the creation and marketing of your own digital products if that is your interest.

Or perhaps you like to sell others products - i.e. affiliate marketing.

Pick ONE of these things and learn everything you can about it. Form a plan. Any of these things can be successful for you but success will come much easier if you enjoy doing it and stay focused. Don't let short-term failures discourage you too much and be persistent.

    To your success!

  • Hi WishfulSuccess...

For industry, business market, consumer market, online consumer market and online competitor
research and analysis: Think along the lines of the info provided by
    my post here...

For keyword research: The Google Keyword Tool's exact match features should
    be helpful...

For online competitor research and analysis:
Installing Firefox plugins which can help you identify nofollow pages and the
Google PR of the page, then Googling each of your exact match
keywords to take note of the top 10 or 20 page results
and determine their Google PR, where they promote their businesses and place
their links, the content, products and services they offer to their target
audience, those with the nofollow tag, those accepting content contributions from
viewers, those promoting discussions between viewers and those with large mailing lists
of subscribers included in your target audience...

Don't be overly dependent on organic Google traffic...
    Diversify your traffic sources...

I'm not one to base the foundations of my livelihood around a

    Hi David,
Since you have purchased market samurai have you watched their tutorial videos? If not take the time to go over them and take notes. They do a good job of going over the basics of IM, niches, etc. Plus teaching you how to make the most of your software. When you invest in your tools take the time to learn how to use them to there maximum potential. The tutorials should spark some ideas and help you narrow down potential markets. Once you learn how to use the software and decide on a niche it will save you a lot of time.

You have a great support team here at this forum and a wealth of information available. I know it can seem overwhelming at times but I am sure many others including myself felt the same way and sometimes still do.

    Best wishes!

I think you have started it right, article marketing is a killer, if you have the volume, but a tough job to write so many article every day. See those Gurus, they still submitting articles to EZA, one of the example is Ewen Chia

Since you have MS, research the list of long tail keywords & write each article per keyword & submit to EZA, then use article distribution network to distribute your same article and link back to your approved EZA article. When the your EZA article hit the top 3 of Big G, congratulation!

I tend to agree that article marketing is probably the easiest way to get started. You'll provide yourself with backlinks, some traffic (at least while the articles are young - although properly SEO'd articles that rank well can generate traffic for years), and you'll start to get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

Make sure you put together a strong resource box. I like to use imperative statements like "Now that you know what to look for in an XYZ product, visit xyzproductinfo.com for excellent reviews!" This works particularly well for Amazon affiliate sites.

      Good luck in your quest!

I know that there are people doing it and they have their reasons, but myself, I would never do all this work (keyword research, writing and article, thinking of a nice closing line that entices people to click) just to submit it to EZA or any other article directory.

No. If I do all this, it is going to be for my own site.

I'd register a domain, install WordPress (it is really a one click thing with HostGator and lots of other hosts), and start writing for my site, and, instead of filling article directories with useful content, I'd fill my own site with useful content.

With EZA and other article directories taking a hit from G, that's just one more reason for me not to bother with them.

Nowadays, article marketing must be done really right for it to work.

It is worth doing, but don't fall into the trap that article marketing = article directories. It simply is not. You could do article marketing on your own site, and to me it would be a lot more preferable.

Now, you'd still need backlinks to your articles, and for that you can submit your original articles (that are already published and indexed on your own site) to article directory networks, comment on relevant blogs, promote on social networks..

I just imagine doing all this work for an article directory that I don't own.. I think I'll pass.

This is excellent advice. Don't fall into the trap of listening to some of the "experts" who say that you should submit your articles to EZA and the other article directories first, as this will only end up wasting your article writing efforts. While there is nothing wrong with writing articles with the intention of syndicating them, always insert your content into your own website first before submitting it to other places. This is why it's so crucial that you have your own website and domain that you control (using Wordpress would be the easiest way of going about it, especially if you're still a newbie).

After you've done that, you can syndicate that content and have it link back to your website. By doing it this way, you're maximizing your writing article efforts and getting the most mileage out of them.

I can second the poster that offered up Ed's free course. The Challenge is the best IM 101, basics course set up I've seen - and they don't up-sell you during the course at all.

Warrior is Uber awesome, but it can and will get confusing - and there's SO much valuable intel here it can quickly turn into information overload.

Also, as a new member here I'll warn you in advance to watch out for the knuckleheads around here offering ridiculous and sometimes bad advice. You've seen a bit of it already in this thread. For every real IM cat around these parts, there's heaps of clowns who will swoop in your threads with one liners that can easily lead you off track. Develop an eye for those who only post replies to your questions in order to 1. sell their own signature product to you, 2. reply to increase their post count.

Yeah, you're really right, it's so mindblowing I'm getting a data crash!

I'm actually thinking of first specializing in "Article Marketing", and then branch off to other methods! (Then brilliant gurus can offer me advice again )

I understand Ezine article-directory is a compilation of e-zines, and that by posting articles on them, I can redirect people to a targeted place. Am I right? So as some has pointed above about not using Ezinearticles, could you recommended these other ways can I explore?

I've done some reading, and thought of setting up Blogs to redirect traffic towards my main Wordpress site. Is this a good idea?

      • Hi WishfulSuccess... I suggest setting up a website under your own domain,
instead of going with an "article marketing campaign by directing resource box
links to a domain that redirects to an affiliate product sales page"
you mentioned, because article marketing is only something which you use along
with other content marketing strategies for the benefit of your online business...

Here's an overview of an option you can take. This is after
choosing a profitable industry with a profitable niche. The niche should be
one where online consumers are expected to find solutions to their relevant
needs and problems online. They should also be expected to purchase those
solutions on the Internet. Pinpoint the keywords they use to find those
solutions online. Find out the strength and places where online competitors market their products
and service offers along with the benefits provided by their onsite content,
        products and service offers...

Your website can have a blog section, a supplemental articles resource section,
a supplemental ebook section, a supplemental presentation section, a supplemental
video section and a supplemental products and services section visible on your
homepage so viewers can easily navigate and view the content of those
        sections...

Don't forget to slap a visible mailing list signup box with a mailing list management panel to a highly visible section of your website's pages, along with a brief description detailing the benefits provided by freely downloadable content your viewers can get after signing up to your mailing list...

Don't forget to have a brief 2 to 3-minute video, turned off by default, visible on a section of your website's static pages, and the video can be an introduction to your business for viewers...

Don't forget to install plugins that make it easy for viewers to share your onsite content with their friends, colleagues and online social networks...

The static pages of your website can include:

        - its homepage which informs viewers about the content, products and services
        your business offers;
        - the About Us page which informs viewers about your business, how
        it started, its objectives, products, services, content offerings and so on;

        - the Contact Us page with your business address and office contact
        details, along with an email form for inquiries and comments;
        - the landing page of your website's blog section;

        - the landing page of your website's supplemental article resource section;
        - the landing page of your website's supplemental ebook resource section;
        - the landing page of your website's supplemental video resource section; and
        - the landing page of your website's supplemental products and services section...

Write simple to understand articles aiming to provide info, advice, tips, strategies
and techniques beneficial and relevant to the specific needs and problems of
        your specific target audience...

Integrate your own observations, inferences, test results, opinions, theories and perspectives into
        the content...

Write it in a style and package it in ways not found elsewhere...

Publish those articles in your website's supplemental article resource section...

Convert those articles into ebooks, MS PowerPoint presentations and videos by adding
supplemental content providing benefits to your target audience that aren't found on
        those articles...

Develop your repurposed content in a style and package it in ways not found elsewhere...

Publish it in the appropriate supplemental content sections of your website...

Develop freely downloadable content for mailing list signups. That freely downloadable content
should provide your target audience additional benefits not found on your onsite
        content...

The download link sent to the email addresses used by viewers to
sign up to your mailing list should include an introduction to your
mailing list included in the email as well as the content they
can expect from your weekly or bimonthly newsletters...

Develop your own products and service offers, or choose affiliate products and
service offers, to sell on your website. Those products and service
offers should provide your target audience additional benefits not found on your
onsite content nor on your freely downloadable signup content...

Publish sales pages for those products and service offers on the supplemental
product and service resource section of your website...

Update your website's sitemap.xml and submit it to Google...

Bookmark your onsite content pages on social bookmarking sites where your target
audience goes to view relevant content popular to other like-minded individuals and
where your target webmasters go to seek relevant content popular to others
to syndicate on their websites for the benefit of their site viewers...

Submit your onsite content pages to article directories, ebook repositories, document-sharing
sites, RSS directories, Web 2.0 sites and video directories where your target
audience goes to view beneficial content and where your target webmasters go
to seek fresh unique content to syndicate on their websites for the
        benefit of their site viewers...

Contact webmasters of websites heavily trafficked by your target audience to negotiate
content exchanges for your business details and links placed with your fresh
content contributions on their pages, ad placements, guest authoring and mailing
list ad placements among other mutually beneficial joint venture deals...

Establish the reputation of your website and business as a friendly expert
resource of beneficial unique content, products and service offers relevant to the
needs and problems of your target audience on the online places regularly

The folks who have already suggested you concentrate on your own web property are spot on. I know you're looking to come at this from an article marketing perspective, but remember that google just penalized many article directories. If you're not aware of this, just glance through the forum, there's at least half a dozen threads on the go now - warriors that have had their articles drop dramatically in google as a result of the "farmer" update.

Not suggesting article marketing is dead, it's not. Just that you should always be thinking about your own online presence first and foremost. Get your site up and running, slam quality content on it, keep it fresh, do all the SEO work you need (SEO can be outsourced, or you can learn about certain techniques here).

Once you are up and running, get hooked up with an autoresponder (Aweber is the best IMO) and do up a nice sequence of follow up emails and a few broadcasts. Get an opt in placed on your site immediately, whether it be a pop up or just a sidebar email form. Getting a list and nurturing it is one thing I failed to recognize early on, and that was my largest mistake starting out. I lost a few years of serious cash by ignoring this aspect of marketing. Lists equal cash, loyal customers, a great test market, and a great source to pitch and close upsells.

Also, if you have writing chops and you're looking for quick cash, now would be a good time to advertise and get work as a ghostwriter. Most directories and site owners are slowly realizing that search engine fodder articles are no longer useful, thanks to this latest google slap. Webmasters will be looking for quality writing, if not now, soon enough. The folks selling 2.00 articles are all but useless to site owners now, so good and slightly costlier writing just got a significant boost in demand. Just as an example, my writer is making in excess of 2 grand a month writing as a ghostwriter, and she does it in her spare time. Her normal gig is writing and editing a brick and mortar magazine, so online ghostwriting is just a hobby to her. 2 grand per month is a nice hobby to have. She started at 15.00 per 500 words a few years ago, now she gets between 45.00 and 90.00 per 500 word article, and she did that with 0 advertising, only word of mouth. That should tell you that if you can write, your skills are in demand.

      Hi, David:
I think a great place to start would be article marketing -- you could also ghostwrite to learn some tips about Internet Marketing. That's helped me more than anything.
Writing for some of the well-known or established gurus can give you lots of knowledge to go out on your own.
Some of the products out there are great too. Anything Craig Desorcy puts out is an incredible teaching device.
It just takes a while for the learning curve and to establish yourself in the niche you choose.
      Good luck!!!
