Hi

New to this all can any one advise me (location UK)

Bought some goods on ebay, dead on arrival, the seller washed his hands of it all.

Raised paypal dispute, they told me to return the goods to the seller, I did but he refused the return and they ended up back with me.

Paypal have now after 2 months refunded me my payment and not asked about the dead items. Do I just dispose of them or do is this paypals task or what ?

Thanks

I would honestly take it up with Paypal, eBay and the seller and not with anyone here on the WF - we have no legal authority to tell you what to do.

    Just my thoughts . .

He's sent them back,he probably has proof the sender has refused it, what else is he supposed to do, hang on to them for ever?

Personally I would send a registered letter to the seller stating that if the goods are not picked up within a reasonable period (and give them the reasonable period), then the goods will be destroyed.

BTW, that info came from my daughter who has a law degree.

      Cheers

      edit

Or if the goods are not very big, shove em in the garage or the shed for a couple of years out of the way

I would inform the seller that I will give them a certain period or a reasonable time to recover the goods at their own cost after which time I will dispose of them. It's their problem now.

Don't contact the seller again as this is pointless.
Retain documentation that the seller refused your
previous attempt to return the item and contact
PP staff for guidance on its disposition.

I take you point, Kim - but what I am saying - it doesn't matter what anyone says on here - it won't relate specifically to this case. Everyone will have different "ideas" of what "should be".

But if you advise on something like that you can't then say "Oh well I did because xyz from the Warrior Forum said I should!!"

    Personally I would chuck them!

Hope you get my point of view, too

    All the best!

You're right, not a good idea to take legal advice from a forum. heck that's a mantra I usually dish out myself lol

You could give Consumer Direct a ring as you're in the UK. They're part of Trading Standards or at least connected to them via the OFT. The number's 08454 04 05 06

You can find their website at:
    http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/
