Help! What happened to my comments? (wordpress)

EDIT: NVM - just realized what what was wrong (thanks WillR!) Hey guys, I'm setting up my own blog for once. I am not selling anything on it, and I have used a plugin called "Disqus" which allows people to post without having to sign up.

Instead, posters can use their Twitter or Facebook account (or disqus itself).

Anyway, I'm not sure whats going on with this... I made a test comment before, but now I can't seem to find the form to even submit a comment???

Not sure what happened here. Maybe I'm missing something...

If anyone knows what's wrong or if I'm crazy, please let me know.

The URL is: Internet Marketing Labz

Thanks guys!

Dean

Like with any wordpress blog, the disqus comments do not show on your homepage but they are showing on your blog post page. So click on the title of the blog post and down the bottom of the blog post page you will see the comments box.

I have used disqus a few times but only on some non Wordpress pages. It's a piece of cake to drop into any static html pages that you need a commenting option on.

The main downside I see to using something like Disqus on a blog where you are hoping to get a lot of regular comments is that none of the comments can be seen by the search engines so you lose all that extra unique and fresh content that people leave on your blog - and all your comments are then dependent on another system which could be taken down any time without notice. Not very likely but if it were to happen, every comment on your blog would disappear overnight.

I also like to use the 'Subscribe to Comments' plugin on a lot of my blogs so people can tick a box and be notified of any replies to comments they leave. This is a good way to get people coming back to the blog. Obviously this isn't an option with something like Disqus. I also like having the Akismet plugin looking after all the spam comments as it seems to do a great job at getting rid of most of the crap without me ever having to know about it.

I see, I've only just recently begun building this blog from the ground up.

I want to do everything right the first time.

Do you have any suggestions on a comment system that allows people to integrate themselves with FB, Twitter, etc?

I swear I've seen so many social media plugins and researched over the last few days that it's just been a big ole blur.

I'll fill you in if I find something worthy, unless you know something of course

No, I mean what you'll see most people doing these days is having the standard wordpress comments system and then having the Facebook comments plugin beneath that - so they have the best of both worlds.

All I do is use the standard wordpress comments system because I like to have the control over it. I will then always have the big Facebook and Twitter share button in my posts so people can share things that way. As I said, I like to have the added content and SEO benefit of the comments people leave on my blog.

I think the best thing to do would be to go around and take a look at all the most popular tech blogs like techcrunch, etc and see what they are doing. This should give you some good ideas. I think you will find most of them are using the Facebook comments plugin in some way or another - it's probably a safer bet than something like Disqus. I don't think Facebook will be going anywhere soon.

You just need to figure out what is most important for you. If it's the sharing aspect then go for something like the Facebook comments plugin along side the regular comments. You can see an example of this setup in action on Ryan Deiss blog: http://drivingtraffic.com/make-money-with-social-media/ You will see all the standard comments at the bottom of the page but just above it you will see the Facebook comments load as well.

Thanks... I checked out Ryans blog.

It looks great and having them both is definately a cool idea. I went off to find the plugin and installed it... now it looks like it's messed up my sharing buttons at the top for some reason.

    Sigh.

And my TweetMeMe button got jacked up too lol... how the f-

Anyway, thanks for the help WillR!
