Ezinearticles 400 word count now?

Hi,

so I see ezinearticles has changed minimum word count to 400 now. Not only that but I have read talk about the articles not even ranking as well anymore. Just wondering is ezinearticles going to die? LOL....I see what everyone was talking about when they say don't build your business off a place you dont have control over.

There are a dozen great threads on this very topic, lot of solid opinions. I'd catch up if I were you, the landscape has definitely changed when it comes to article directories moving forward.

There is tons of on site traffic that you can get from Ezine so Google might have slapped them but they can still give you a ton of traffic. They key is to stand out with great headlines and keep the articles flowing.

Use dragon software and get your article writing format down so you can knock out 6-7 articles an hour.

I think the minimum of 400 words is a step in the right direction, and is long overdue. Yes, EZA has lost some of it's ranking power, but that doesn't mean quality articles won't rank highly. I have still seen quite a lot in the top 3-5 positions in Google. Even articles that aren't perhaps of very good quality can rank highly if there is low competition and enough backlinks pointing their way. Personally, I'd rather write good content and build backlinks to my own sites than any of the article directories. I do submit my content to directories in addition to my own sites though

There's no way EZA is 'going to die', but you're right when you say you should be careful building a business off a place you have no control over.

There 400 word minimum is just a start but if you really want to see an improvement with your articles focus on exceeding that word count with articles that are full of high quality information and value.

Also...something you should really start looking in to becoming proficient at doing is article syndication and guest blogging. That I believe is where the new opportunities await those that harness the power behind those strategies.

Do some searches for threads by Alexa and TPW....they are top article syndicators.

    Respectfully,

To get the message across often you need 400 words, so probably most people will not even blink an eye at the change.
The important question is are the articles in ezine still going to be effective and get you to the place you want to be?

EZA is still a helpful site for article marketers with the understanding that it will help with article syndication but will not be a safe haven for article spammers.

Don't view EZA as a depository for backlink purposes instead view it for what it was originally designed to be which is a directory where ezine owners and webmasters can go to obtain content for their websites - hence the article syndication.

I never knew that it was alive to begin with

On a more serious note: Article syndication will never die out - what would news websites do? Content makes the internet go around.

They really need to bump the 400 word minimum higher, as most of the junk authors who wrote 'articles' for clicks usually submitted around 300-350 words, meaning EZA will still receive the same junk articles, only with a little extra padding.

Word count should be bumped up to at least 800 words minimum, with the links NoFollow in order to remove any incentive for the backlink authors to write and submit 'articles.' This will also dramatically increase the overall quality of the content submitted.

It is time that Chris Knight picks the ball back up, and run EZA as it should have been, like a directory, not a link farm, which is the main reason it got slapped in the first place.

This is a long time past, but I'm finding even a year later that traffic might not be "gang busters" like it was pre Panda, but I still get really good traffic from my Ezinearticles, and good clickthrough rates to my other sites so to me it's still worth the investment of time - as long as you're smart about it, IMO. Still a great way to get indexed and get some clickthrough traffic.

I still get around 60 views and 10 clicks per month from article that I wrote almost two years ago. That said, I believe EZA is still a good alternative for traffic, especially in the long-term perspective.

EZA is still a good source for traffic but I did notice a bit of decline in traffic over the past few weeks. I think this explains it.
