Default What I am Finding Newbies Need (Rant?)

I have been an internet entrepreneur for over a year now and have established a nice full time income online.

I have sponsored hundreds into my various businesses and despite all the weekly training calls and private mentoring and coaching I have given, I find a lot of them fail...and I see a common mistake with a lot of them.

Here's an example - just last week, I had someone on my list who is also in one of my business email me about a new program he had joined and how 'this was it!' Well he hasn't made a dime in the business he joined with me...

It disturbed me because so many newbies think the answer is in finding a new business versus learning how to effectively market. I mean, that was the first thing I learned when I got online - how to market properly...and because of that, literally every business I've done...I've had a very high level of success.

Now...because of this frustration, I use a system that I plug all of my partners into (if they want my mentoring and coaching). This way, I know they have access to the exact resources, tools and training that I do and I know that they are not putting their business before marketing...but that they are learning how to use a systematic approach to building their business and that they are learning how to market effectively.

So many people get rich, just from newbies jumping around from program to program. I even did a video about this topic...if you go to my youtube channel, you can see it - it's titled: *STOP (Internet Marketing) NEWBIE!* ... DON'T JOIN THAT ( Internet Business) YET!

So hopefully this helps any newbies considering investing into another business without knowing what it really takes to be successful online. The answer is not in the business...it's in your system and in your marketing.

Rant...end. ; D

I feel your pain.

On the other hand, isn't it a great feeling when you get the email from someone who has followed your advice and is doing great?

I just got one of those emails, and I am on top of the world.

Some people won't follow the steps, and that's okay. Focus on the ones who do.

Yes!!! I actually *LIVE* for those emails...and I have tons of them...

I cannot describe the feeling it gives me to know I actually had a part to play in their success.

I think we are a lot alike, Shay! ; D

I get so excited when someone takes the time to let me know that I have helped! Hooray!

It does sound like we are alike.

Hi Steph,

I understand your point and agree with you. But I would add that I understand why it happens.

Put it this way - if someone joined your coaching, did exactly what they were told, followed it to the letter and therefore - didn't follow their own instincts, didn't seek opportunities to fail quickly, didn't rebel, didn't have a burning, uncontrollable desire for independence and to find their own secrets rather than purchasing second-hand info from others - then they probably haven't got a strong entrepreneurial streak and will always need to be led.

Do you see my point? What you prefer people to do in order to learn your system is directly in conflict with the typical requirements for entrepreneurial success.

One of the reasons I am confident of my own abilities is because I am by nature an untameable, untrainable maverick-type rebel - a coach's worst nightmare. It's a hindrance and a gift all in one.

I hope I don't spoil the party and that this comes across the right way - I just wanted to offer my view on why I believe that some people fail at being coached - it's not always because they're doomed to totally fail - they might just be incapable of putting their direction in the hands of someone elses navigation.

Great perspective Roger. True entrepreneurs are not followers, they're leaders. They don't color inside the lines.

A system that requires paint-by-the-number following is going to attract 'employee' types who will always need to be lead. Where those that succeed are probably looking at your model and adapting - and often improving - it along the way.

Although - and this will open a whole 'nother can of worms - I would argue that network marketers (the ones who will 'feed' the upper levels) and franchise owners mostly fall in to this category. They want a paint-by-number system.

Steph, do what you can. Some ducklings are just born to stay ugly.

I think what you're talking about is a symptom of the "make money online" mentality that a lot of newbies have versus the "build a business" mentality that most successful people have. Even here on the forum, how many "How do I make money online?" threads do you see pop up, versus how many people saying "How should I go about building an online business?"

When someone's in the "make money" mentality, their attention is subject to anything that offers them that promise, so they jump from opportunity to opportunity thinking each one is going to be their big break.

Their mistake lies in thinking that the OPPORTUNITY itself is going to make them money, when in reality, no matter what, you have to be selling a product that people actually want, have a way to get those people to your website, and have a way to convert those people into paying customers...and have all of this systematized so that it's consistent, if you want to be able to earn an income.

So yes, I absolutely agree with the issues you're talking about, but I think those are symptoms of an overall mindset that newbies tend to have. I know in my case, it was after trying every money making opportunity out there and getting nowhere that I finally started to take a look at what I was doing and realize I was approaching things completely the wrong way. If you can help people get out of that mindset, then more power to ya!
