What Is With These Weird Comments?

On one of my sites I keep seeing comments that are left as just a bunch on letters that don't make sense. Like this...

JWei2v igyektakkufb, rjdvtzrvhler, [link=http://yieifwybqpmz.com/]yieifwybqpmz[/link], http://fwyrpusshvgx.com/

I'm curious what is going on, is this from people using bots try to do automatic blog commenting?

Most likely foreign countries with a software like scrapebox. Put a protector on and you should have no problems. Those comments get through if you don't have a filter so people keep doing them. Watch out for english written comments that are saying real general stuff those are mostly scrapebox users.

Yeah, those are foreign comments. Are they from scrapebox- could very well be, but there are other blog commenters out there as well. Just run akismet and you'll be fine!

here's how to stop that from happening if you have a WordPress-driven site:

      download Conditional Captcha

it's stops the bots from posting comments...

very cool plugin and one of the most valuable ones, in my opinion, that works hand in hand with Akismet.

Is there a free version of akismet?

In order to activate it on my site I have to pay for it.

what? Akismet is a free plugin that comes with WordPress.
In order to activate it, you need to create an account at WordPress.com to get the API key.

Akismet is free for personal use, but not for business use.
