Default Looking for the Best BackLink Tactics

Hi,

I've started a blog - and am very passionate about it :
backlinktactics .com (I haven't got 15 posts yet to post the link).

I'm already found some great tips, but would love some topics or some hints from all you experts out there.

Thanks!

I highly recommend this method: Asking For A Link Exchange Doesn't Work Anymore | Performancing.com

Yes I've found out that Link Exchanges are defintely not the best way to do things.

Here are some questions though I'd love to know :

Is there a tool to find out what page on the Google Searches your page is?

If you only have 1 Backlink and it was a PR8 - what would your site PR rank be?

Is it true that the Page Rank is only updated every 3 months by google (the one published in tools) - but what is used in the search is the real current one?

How much does the age of a site count towards Page Rank?

If someone wanted to kill your page rank could they do so by creating thousands of negatively affecting backlinks to your site?

Hrm... there are a few tools to find out what page you are on, but you need to keep in mind that personalized results and geo/local results may mean you get different SERPs for the query each time. I use IBP and SEOmoz.org to find out the value of my site.

In theory, a PR 8 would give a significant boost to your PR. But you need to keep in mind the amonth of links that exist on the PR8 already, what the topic is, where your link is on the page, and how it is linked to your site.

Page rank is updated 3 to 4 times per year, but not systematically every 3 months. It is inconsistent if anything.

Domain age is used in determining where your site ranks in the results, not your pagerank.

And there is much debate on the last question you have. In theory, YES someone could kill your site by building a ton of problem links. But a webmaster could present a case through a reinclusion request, and Google will typically work with you.

This an excellent strategy.

Other strategies include guest posting, blog commenting on high traffic blogs with dofollow, social bookmarking, etc.

I just stumbled upon this article tonight and I was very impressed with the strategy. I will be trying it out on a few different niches soon.

You'll need to spend some money on it, but it's relatively cheap for one way backlinks.

There is a tool floating around and it works like this:
You enter a keyword/phrase, it then brings you back a list of blogs with relevent content and their pr rating.
It then loads up each blog you select with the comment box for your to post a comment and more importantly a backlink.
Not for spamming blogs ( though im sure it has been used for that) but a good fast and effective way of posting to other blogs.
Problem is...as i type this reply i can't remember the name of the software :-( I will repost as soon as it comes back to me.
